Yes. That's the point in my opinion. Playing short songs over and over because you like the song, isn't farming. It's just playing the video game. And I think people should be a little less judgy about how other play a video game. If they want to compete good for them. If not, that's cool too. The only reason to care If someone farms is if you want be high ranked but don't want to farm. Which is like wanting to play in the NBA and neither know defense nor be Lebron. You have to pick priorities. Being competitive in a game means using the rules to give you the best results.

who cares what you do? however you play whether its for pp or fun shouldn't matter. At the end of the day, you do what you want. I don't think pp farming should be an issue because its the player's skill that is affected not the others criticizing his/her play style. Just let people do what they want because the people who are taking shortcuts aren't going to see their skill grow as much as a true player would in the long run.

Real life has enough of that. Farm till you are #1 if you want. What, do you want a cookie because you aren't a farmer? Smh, no one cares. The reason why there is such a issue with rank in this game is because you are ranking different skills under the same rules. So many things in this game take different skills, people who farm dt and people who farm dt hr for example are two different breeds and take vastly different skills. Then compare them to people who farm hdhr or people who use flashlight. No comparison.

A friend of mine is what you would call a HDDT farmer... He's just a few ranks above me (40k-50k) and when we played, this fella was streaming with a speed I wish I had. Whatever the mod is, the map style is, it needs something to be "farmeable" and it is.. SKILLS (I usually play Nodmod or HDHR but still learning the latter)

Well, main difference between farming and not farming in my opinion is... purpose. Farming starts when you mainly want to gain much pp. You can play tv-size maps or with DT just for fun. For example I enjoy TV-size maps because I can learn some tricks and techniques without waiting 2-3 minutes in the song. But I also enjoy long songs. They're more challenging and give me huge satisfaction after completing. I also want more to learn new stuff and play better, than have much pp. That's why I'm only around 100000 at ranking

So i play like only maps under 2 minutes. Why?? Because they are the most fun for me, listening to song for like 4 minutes, i mean playing a map for 4 minutes is boring for me. Im a new player and i have playid like 25 hours. I mostly do 4-4.5 star maps. The problem is i want a challange and 3 star maps are too boring for me and like playing a 4 minute map only choke in the middle and never complete it. Imean my favorite map is like 3.30 long so i dont hate them, its just really hard to find a faster map that i can complete. Also i use a secret formula. Difference between pp farmer and a legit player. Someone that strait up just pp farms and has a rank of 5 digits might not even be able to play a 5 star when someone thats hundreds of thousands behind that doesn't pp farm can play a 5 star. Plus pp farming is building false rank. Yeah i beat 3 stars with hd all day and I'm 100th in the world. Lol. I honestly don’t see what’s so bad about T.V Size maps. They may not last long on paper, but when you’re actively engaged in the game/the patterns that appear on the screen, it feels like hours. Obviously those aren’t the only maps people should be playing, but comparing a regular, nomod T.V Size map to a 30 second DT map that was clearly made to milk the PP system (CBCC, Clover, etc) is a little much. I understand that some T.V Size maps were also made to milk the system, but a lot of those maps take effort and skill to play (mostly 5.5* and above). With all of that being said, it’s nice to see someone making videos regarding osu! improvement and actually being serious about it. A lot of videos I’d come across wouldn’t have any effort put into them and would leave you with “play more” but you seem to be giving a lot of valuable advice, which is pretty cool. Keep up the good work.

Honestly think FrenZ is just biased. The way he started bringing up examples instead of rules and throwing arbitrary numbers and mods around is when I decided that for myself. Nobody should care if you play 90 second songs, or use mods, or any of that. But the moment you think "I'm doing this to raise my pp" is when it's pp farming. The moment you stop playing to get better or for fun, and just for that number, is pp farming.

Am I a pp farmer? I started playing a year ago, but I took monthly breaks and in total my play count is only 29 hours. I can't FC pretty much any map because of my unstable focusing skill... I mostly get B's and C's. As I said before, I can't really fc a single map because I often defocus for a few seconds in the middle of a map, which is enough to make my combo vanish. I am able to pass 5 and 6 star maps. I played some farm maps in the past, but mainly because they are short (defocusing) and because I like jump maps. I also played them because as of right now, I can beat 6* and I have only 700pp (on osu Beatmap search site, you can see a recommended amount of stars based on my pp, and even on 700pp it shows that I should play 3* maps, that's why I decided to farm a bit). I also have a RIDICULOUS amount of unranked maps, which I like to play because there are little to none ranked beatmaps with songs that I like. Am I a farmer?

well I agree to everything you said but, I will call someone a farmer only if i can play same map exactly how he does and with the same mods. For example calling mathi a farmer for fcing best friends and getting almost 700pp its stupid cause it takes an enormous amount of skill to hit all these jumps and read the paterns the way he did. So to conclude, if you watch someone play a tv size map call him a dirty farmer but you should also reflect on yourself and think if you can do what he does. Of course it takes skill to get those plays but the simplicity of the patterns in the map makes it so that it is easier than average in terms of aiming and reading and etc and that's why people believe that it's "farming". Slow Down actually ppv2 is one of the most broken scoring system in the rhythm game genre. The problem with ppv2 is it mostly gives priority to the fast players/ Dt farmers who are Extremely fast but cant follow rhythm properly. They can fc ar 11 tv sized dt maps easilly but give them any hdhr ar 9 maps they will struggle to read it. Remember the HD rework? Some HDDT players Got their pp cut in half after the rework because they rely on fast paced 1-2 jumps for their pp. And ppv2 also affects the current leaderboard system ever realise that 99% of the top 10 are dt players? Because they know that there is a flaw in the pp system and they took advantage of it meanwhile players that are extremely consistent and can follow the rhythm precisely gets shafted by the pp system (ex: -GN , idke, Mafham, Cookiezi , WubWoofWolf, Toy etc.) These players are one of the most consistent players in osu but they really cant hold a high rank since they are not as fast as the current dt players.

pp farming is playing maps for PP gain. Who cares if you accept the score or think it makes you better. That has nothing to do with the point of playing them: To get more PP. At then end of the day whether I hate myself for doing it or think I'm a better player for doing it, my PP score has been raised because I played a map that I knew was easy.

Depressed Optimist I now somehow consider myself a farmer I admit that I replay maps that I played before in where I get like S scores or even SS scores (only on the easiest tho, since I'm just playing for like four weeks) Plus, I use PF *ALMOST ALL THE TIME* with other mods (mostly HD, HR or FL but I just got into DT)

You should have kept playing nomod and hd to keep your reading skills. HD doesn’t require you to read far ahead, overlapped sliders are much easier to read. I like hd but 10+ notes stream is quite hard to aim at 200+ bpm.

Honestly, I dont get the hate some people have for "farmers". I agree, someone playing somewhat easier maps and gaining more PP and then bragging about it is annoying, but why would you care? The thing is that you care about Rank, but why would you in a game like this? Shouldn't it matter more to you what you achieve by yourself? I mean dont get me wrong, I get that its annoying that someone gets rewarded more than you for doing something less, but come on. Why would that be important to you? If there is something on the line I would understand that, but there isn't, at least with normal rankings. Comparing yourself to others that way is probably going to ruin the fun for you, as no system in this world will ever be fair. I'm a shit 1.2k pp Player, and I play mostly TV Size Maps, but I dont give a damn about PP. I just want to feel accomplished about myself, not compared to others, and since I don't have much stamina and get nervous easily, I play TV Size Maps that I have a chance of FCing, and happen to gain PP from it. Do I care about what other people around my Rank do? No. Do I think people above or below me are better or worse players then me? I don't give a shit. I'm having fun with this game, I want to improve my skills, but at the same time get some achievements for myself, aka FCing stuff. If I play longer Maps just to not be called a PP Farmer, I wouldnt have fun since these Maps aren't as fun to play for me as shorter Maps, since it frustrates me more. I don't care about PP, I wanna have fun, and maybe you guys should do the same, just focus on your own play, be happy that you improve and FC stuff, instead of focusing on others, pointing fingers and saying "He/she doesn't deserve this rank, I do, because of *insert reason here*". You're gonna have a lot less fun in life if you keep focusing on others.

Can I have the last song on your video please? :3 Also, about farming, I believe that playing osu is supposed to be fun, if someone likes DT and feel like fast clicking is his strong point, then let him/her play DT, same with any other mod, play osu and enjoy it. After all it's a game and we play games to have fun. I play osu and play the songs I like, I don't care about pp or anything, this is something that just increases by time. Enjoy the music and the game the way you feel is right, is the correct way. There is no farming or anything. If someone wants to "farm" pp fast to look as a good player let him go ahead. I am a 5 digit player at around rank #72000 and people who are rank #30000 can't beat my scores. Coincidence? I guess not.
