Fellow teacher here. In the US (at least in my region), we don't seem to have the same rules with really and very. At least, all of your examples of when one is incorrect are used frequently. I admit the ones you indicate to be correct sound a tad better.

I really am interested in expanding my vocabulary to sound less redundant and increase my fluency of speech; but sir to be just and sincere to the thought the are times when pretty is the accurate word and not stunning or pulcritunious( gee I hope that is a viable word). I learned from my English teacher to never say "I don't know" instead say "I'm not sure". and I habitually been using it since..
