Don’t forget they lost Steven Adams for the whole season, even though they traded him. They also were down a ton of role players. Kennard was out for much of the season. Literally broke the record for most 10 day contracts. Grizzlies had almost all G league players on the court last season. Basically, every game was like this: 2 defenders stuck to JJJ, on the rebound, 2 people box JJJ out. Grizzlies have the potential to be the best team but they need that awkward year where they get used to Edey and Smart in the lineup.

They investigated the “score keeper” thing and he had a net loss of 1 block. They found blocks he didn’t get credit for and under scrutiny found blocks that he shouldn’t have got. It was an extremely normal scenario. JJJ was a 5 last year and he was surrounded by G league players. He had to completely change his approach. People forget he’s 24 years old! Dude is only a year older than Vince Williams, the rookie last year, 2 years older than Edey. JJJ is one of the best 2 way players right now, only opinion. I think he’s got AD potential.

Does the team need Kennard? With his lack of D, how many minutes is he going to play, especially in crunch time? I also strongly believe that Smart needs to play back up point guard. He can get minutes unit 1 but don't play him at the SF. I also think either wells or Spencer will make those three's that was marked out for Kennard.

All those injuries and even forgot about Steven Adams being injured all season. I think that’s where JJJ didn’t have as great of a year because he was having to play bigger. I think he’ll be a menace when Edey is on the court with him

Jjj had to fall into the role of the 5 last year, and he's a natural 4 which is where he won DPY. Edey and healthy BC allows him to float around as the weak side defender again
