The Moana remake is nothing but a Dwayne Johnson vanity project. That crossover movie with Ariel sounds great though, it would brilliant to see something like that. Also, I think Disney should try to do something with Ariel's sisters like a series or something. They were a big part of the film's marketing only to have very little presence in final product.

I think this is brilliant. And I won't lie, I had a very similar idea while playing Disney Dreamlight Valley. I think it's Ariel who briefly mentions how interesting she thinks Moana is in one of her tiny conversations with you, and it immediately made sense to me that Ariel and Moana would absolutely be adventuring besties in some kind of crossover context.

Honestly, I've given up on Disney. They don't know how to make movies anymore. They care about money more than creativity and quality. And the treatment that Halle Bailey got was absolutely terrible. They did nothing to support and elevate her in the role of Ariel and yet this movie could have been spectacular! That's why I'm so glad that there's independent animators and filmmakers out there who actually put life and soul in the stuff that they make! I hope that one day, Halle will get another, original princess role in which she will be truly and fully supported.

@_Ms.Sakura8 ай бұрын
I completely agree with you! Disney adding something new/different to the table with their live-action films like crossovers that fans have wanted for years and spending money to make it actually look compelling would make us definitely want to see it. Also, you're right, Disney definitely did Halle wrong and should rectify it by properly portraying her in a better and new way. Btw, you are super creative and Disney should hire more people like you who care not just about the story and characters that they're portraying, but the fans of the franchise as well. It's so sad & frustrating to see Disney just ruin their legacy by caring more about quantity than quality, which was what made them so legendary in the past.

Personally, I actually really like the idea of POTC inspired crossover adventure between Moana and Ariel, with the spectacle and huge grandiose scope you'd expect from such a project. Would genuinely be awesome to see, not to mention, could allow Bailey a second chance as the character, not only that, but also play a around with a possibly darker and more serious tone. Also, doing crossovers instead of standard live action remakes, gives them an excuse to not only do a crossover between The Lion King, Tarzan, and The Jungle Book, but also utilized (/kindof Semi-confirm) the Tangled/Frozen theory of Rapunzel being Anna and Elsa's Cousin, and finally do thay crossover, or even better, make those weirdos at the Rise of The Brave Tangaled Frozen Dragons fandom (yes that's a thing, look it up) happy, and do that as a crossover movie...granted, they'd have to pay DreamWorks, because two of the characters, Hiccup from Httyd and Jack Frost from Rise of the Gaurdians, are in that lineup, but still, it's at least something, and something is better then nothing. Though honestly, if they did the crossover route like you suggested, I'd honestly prefer they'd be animated rather then live action, but that's just me. Alternatively, however, if they have to continue doing the live action remakes as they are, why not do it films that warrant a remake. The reason the remakes of Cinderella and The Jungle Book worked is because while the originals weren't bad persay, they were definitely flawed, and did have areas in need of improvement, and there respective remakes, for the most part, improved those weaker aspects. For example, Black Cauldron, is definitely a film that warrants a remake. A more book accurate adaptation of Black Cauldron, and directed by someone like a Sam Raimi or a George Miller no less, is amazing to think about. Or how about Sword in the Stone. The original film was so boring, but I think a movie about Arthur's childhood both before and possibly after he pulls the legendary sword Excalibur from the Stone and training under Merlin, is a fun and interesting idea that deserves a second chance, it could even be a two parter, with Part Two taking cues from John Boormans Excalibur and focusing on Arthur's adulthood. Or how about Frozen, yeah the movie isn't horrible, but it's still is very flawed in a lot of areas, and could also benefit from a remake. Such as giving the Duke of Weaseltown a bigger role, perhaps upgrading him to the clear cut main antagonist, and/or actually having the ice blast to the heart slowly turn Anna evil, and have her be the twist villain instead, or lean more into TLK parallels, or let the scenes between the sisters sit more to truly show what dividing for so long has done, you know actually improved upon the more flawed aspects to make a better narrative (also, that Once Upon a Time show (....no, seriously) already gave the perfect casting for live action Anna and Elsa with Elizabeth Lail and Georgina Haig, so, yeah, just bring them back). The point is, if they aren't going to do anything cool, new, and/or interesting like what your suggesting (and I would absolutely love to see, especially the Ariel and Moana crossover idea, as it means more Hailey Bailey, and looking like how Ariel is suppose to no less), then at least do remakes on films that warrant a remake.
@linaly2438 ай бұрын
I love your idea!! It reminds me of Once Upon A Time - that was at least truly exciting to meet the characters there in another context ...
@fusetunes8 ай бұрын
i think another thing that made the earlier remakes easier to differentiate was that they were adapting disney films from the 50s-60s. it's much easier removed from comparison because the songs aren't as tied to the story and as you said, the cinematic language and scripts are a lot different than now. now that they've gotten into the renaissance, they're only 30~ years removed from the source material and most people who saw them in theaters still pretty clearly remember seeing them. it gives disney a nostalgia bonus and might initially create more sales, but then they try to walk the line between those expectations to generate as much revenue as possible in the long run and end up saying nothing. there's also something to say for an increasing overreliance on overworking vfx teams for rushed cgi in every scene, as opposed to slowing down the production to ensure the films look as good as possible or even just adapting more 'grounded' stories that can still look nice without needing to worry about wonky animal designs or whatnot. i'm surprised it's taken disney this long to allow the princesses to interact- i think it would be interesting if they made more crossover games/comics a la kingdom hearts, or maybe released proshots of the broadway versions theatrically to fill the slots of remakes.

You have a lot of great ideas that I feel the Disney company needs at this point. I don’t mind the live-action films, but I have to agree that a lot of them fail to bring the same vibrancy and imagination that the original movies had. I adore Halle as Ariel and would love to see her return in a sequel or crossover. I feel like the live-action could have pushed the boundaries with the visuals and overall direction. They could make up for the areas they messed up in with a second film.

I really like your idea of a Moana and Little Mermaid crossover sequel. It definitely has potential for creative worldbuilding and giving more life to these characters. I also think Disney should go back to their roots and find more fairytales and legends to make into movies, animated or not. There are more fairytales by Hans Christian Andersen, Brother Grimm, and all over the world than what they already made. If they do that, it can remind the audience what Disney does best and how it became popular in the first place. Again, great video and great idea.

I love this idea! The thought of Disney Multiverse Clashes has haunted my dreams since I first watched most of the original films. To see Ariel and Moana in a high-stakes adventure (Sure, I think since this is Disney, they should have light-hearted themes, but overall, the tone should take a darker and more serious route. Maybe a few casualties that will really impact the audience.) would really set Disney back on top. Obviously, it can't be any bland story, or else they'll never get off the ground, but, if you're right, and they do get a writer who actually understands sea legends, and appreciates these Disney Princesses, then we can get this together. But, there is one major thing this movie must have. A good antagonist. The only reason I even remotely like King Magnifico of Wish was because he was incredibly voiced by Chris Pine, (The dude is great.) but Disney cannot keep doing what it has been with Simpathetic Villaines, twist villains, and collective antagonists. It's just not working anymore. Sure, Sea Monsters are needed for a high stakes Sea Movie, but you really need someone who the audience can focus their hate and fear upon. A Black Manta for Disney! Someone who is Ruthless, Remoursless, Pitiless, Cruel, Vile, Insane, power-hungry, Vengeful, Egotistical, and simply put, PURE EVIL. If we can get a guy/girl who fits that description, who is willing to go to any lengths to get what they want and destroy the protagonists, then we have a box office success on our hands.

Personally I love this idea however I would add one thing and add in Kida from Atlantis. Atlantis is a very underrated movie and I feel like it deserves more love (I personally feel like they should use live action remakes to breath new life into their less popular animated movies instead of the extremely popular ones) and having Kida be in an ocean adventure movie with 2 other ocean princesses would be the much needed push she deserves. Also it gives them the opportunity to expand upon the word of Atlantis. With Ariel representing Greek mythology and the Caribbean and Moana representing Polynesian mythology and Pacific Islanders they could give Kida a connection Aztec or Mayan gods or something along those lines (doubt they would because that would be too similar to what they did over in Marvel with Namor) over all I just feel like a movie with Moana, Ariel, and Kids would be great

The issue with the female characters is that the remakes try to write them as “strong” by using brute force and arrogance over intelligence. So many have no weaknesses, no flaws, nothing to overcome or learn so they don’t grow as a character. They come off as mean and condescending. It’s off putting. Mulan is a prime example of how they butchered the character. Cartoon Mulan was feeling out of place and insecure about herself. Relatable. She loved and respected her father and wanted to protect him. Relatable. She was even more out of place when she was training with the soldiers and failed epically at first causing her to lose hope. Relatable. She finally overcame her limitations with ingenuity and determination. Relatable AND a powerful message. She worked together with the men who had come to respect her and each utilized their strengths to save the day. It’s inspiring. Live action remakes don’t have the same soul.
