STOP TRUSTING THIRD PARTY COA FOR YOUR AUTOGRAPHS & COLLECTIBLES

Happy Friday everybody. Today I want to share my experience with third party authentication. PSA, JSA, and BECKETT each have made mistakes and been apart of scandals. I reveal what I got authenticated today, but emphasize the importance of not trusting in one company when buying, selling, or trading autographs.
Can we address a key point? STOP STUDYING A COA, STUDY THE ACTUAL AUTOGRAPH. You need to try some research on signatures before you just go and buy an autograph. Upper Deck, Tristar, and Panini are no brainer top tier companies that serve our community well.
I really hope this video can help you all out. I know each of these companies has legit stuff, but human error is a real thing.
Deep down I will still use jsa, psa, beckett etc. I know which items I am submitting because I either got them signed or I studied the signature to be authentic. Submitting autographs for authentication can provide reassurance to your buyers, but beware as a buyer to not just trust based off which sticker third party coa you heard rumors about.

autograph business has always been a hit or miss.. i got an item signed that i was physically present and it didnt pass authentication because "autograph was deemed to be written slowly"... at the end of the day "its all about opionions"

No third party authentication company is perfect. It's not a fool proof system but the top 3 authenticators get it right way more and more than they get it wrong. That's one problem with in person autographs is that the person may not use the same signature as they would at a paid signing which makes it difficult to authenticate.

Most Global certed is fake - another thing Robert Shaw didnt used sharpie to sign fanmail yet you see many in sharpie. 200$ for Jacko (irl sgd LP 2k) , 300 Prince (also stopped signing mid 90s) , Steve Jobs 300 (irl 5k for cut) , Monroe 1-1500$ (irl 10k+ sgd photo) , James Dean 500 (irl 15k+)......people need to wake up here & see whats up !

That’s awesome man. Congrats on getting all those. My cousin worked for the Rockies and now the Cardinals. He gave me a signed Rockies ball from like 94-95 with some great players on it. I’ve always thought about authentication but for the 15-20 players it would cost a fortune I believe. Maybe One day I’ll get it done. Very cool tho man 👍

One big problem with Authentication is the age of a Star or Sports personality at the time the signature is made. Most people's Signature will change over time and can drastically change when they get way up in age. There are several reasons for this, Certain illnesses just plain age and other factors like if they were rushed doing it or not really paying attention as it is signed. A good example of an illness signatures is Micheal J. Fox. However, most Autographs are not that hard to figure out once you have seen enough of a certain Signature. Just my 2 Cents on this. 😉🖖

I had a Paolo Maldini signed photograph, the COA stated Feb 2021 for sign date, but the back of the photograph was printed in March 2023! It was returned!

TPA’s have a purpose in the hobby. They give opinion about your autographs and if they comeback as authentic you can sell your memorabilia for top dollar. That being said, they do make mistakes and get greedy. They have been exposed in trimming cards for online auctions to make a higher profit and not authenticating an autograph just because of the seller. The other greedy authentication companies that never fail anything are the real problem because the item they authenticate sells for a lower price because it’s usually a forgery. EBay is also the problem because they do nothing about the bad authentication companies like GFA, Global Authentic, ACE, inpersonauthentics and others. The usually past all Florida forgeries. All sell for lower prices and all say there autographs are real but are fake. Sports memorabilia is a great investment but the greed is what ruins it.

I dont know about now but BGS used JSA as their authentication of auto graphs on cards then grade the auto & card, FACTS !

I use all them also and other authenticators there's so many of them out there. People are so fixated on just them 3 when yes it's all n opinion. I like using other authenticators also other than Psa, jsa, and Beckett because some are much cheaper and still know what they're doing

i went to comic con lfcc on the 8th of july 2023 and autographcoa were there they i met dolph lundgren and he signed my glove but the coa that ACOA put on it is the same number that is online connected to a photo of emma mackey.

The sad thing is I've heard people new to the hobby say they trust PSA/DNA because they "use actual DNA to prove its real" lol...My all-time favorite PSA screw up was on an Andy Griffith Show 8x10, PSA cert'd it as authentically signed by "Howard McNear, George Lindsey & Ernest T Bass" - their first mistake was it was signed by Howard Morris, not McNear. huge difference in value there, 2nd mistake was Ernest T Bass was his character name that he added to his signature, not a 3rd signer and not a real person, lol

forget authenticators , unless gov cleamns up the autograph scene then people will be scammed (and yes that means sellers must have valid licence and monitored , caught selling fakes they will get blacklisted and immediate prosecution)

@@postersandstuff There's no way to stop fakes, just like there's no way to stop forged cards, paintings, antiques, money...the bad guys always find a way...they fake PSA slabs now, so you can't even be 100% sure a PSA'd card is real anymore...The only way to avoid getting scammed is to do your homework before you buy the item, don't just take the sellers word on it or believe it because it has a COA.....back in the 90's when I first got into autograph collecting I got scammed out of thousands of dollars by Stans Sports Memorabilia in NJ, because I just trusted the dealer , years later he was arrested for selling fakes, and when I look back now the autographs I was buying from him were awful, not even close to looking real, and if I had done a little research I would have known that.

I only buy witnessed stuff or in presence unless I can obtain it myself and have it authenticated at a convention. CGC for comics, sport cards with signatures obtained by the card company, fanatics for sports memorabilia. That’s it unless it’s trustworthy limited items like eminem’s lithos from his official store, wwe shop items, etc

hey real quick, whats ur view on fanatics or the witness protected COA's? PSA In the Presence, Beckett witnessed, JSA witness? I do look at the signature before buying any jersey but how reliable are those? I've been putting together my own jersey collection for a few months now and got about 10 of my favorite players ever in the nfl. Just wanted to pick your mind about buying witnessed jerseys rather than just a send in and authenticate jersey. Great video btw!

I have a kobe Bryant autograph shoe took it to psa/dna they gave it a good to go with cert & sticker on the shoe so they put it on the data base 3 years later they took it down the data base 🤷🏾‍♂️ I called them up guess what they told me to resend it so I can pay again lol😮

@@mojo_sports I trust JSA. I think the FBI use them as a expert on autos in a case against a guy who was selling fake autos. If there good enough for the FBI to use in a case there good enough for me. Plus I think Janes Spence got PSA established before he left & started his own company.

I don’t trust any third party authenticators. They’re all pretty incompetent and will slap an authentication sticker on pretty much anything. UDA is the only company I fully trust with signatures I don’t obtain in person
