To add to this: Rather than learn each new library etc., learn about the *concepts* involved in a piece of tech first, then evaluate that library etc. against your own criteria for production-readiness. If it isn't there yet, wait until it or something else gets there. That way, you're not learning new syntax and architecture for each new library unnecessarily.

I worked in Angular environnement for big companies who were obsessed to migrate to the newer version every 6 months basically which took a lot of ressources. I agree that one should not run after new features for the sake of it. It usually boils down to making a lot of changes to make it work as it did before

Absolutely this! You see young (still in school?) devs complaining that it must have been so easy before in the old slow days. There's a reason so many businesses freeze on a version, why LTS exists. Go with what works now, what tutorals or slashdot or whatever supports; getting the job done is all that matters and often the older ways are more than good enough. Signed, someone who learned this the hard way.

I'm junior Dev and I've learned react first then I used next.js for the first time with the app router, I would say it was a bit confusing at the start, especially that the documentation wasn't the best, but still, I've made a couple of projects with it and I really liked it, it's my go to choice when I want to build anything now, I've tried looking at the old ways of the pages router and it was harder than the app router.

Literally me trying to learn Elysia. Super confusing with little to no documentations. I had to figure most things out myself.

Thing is, if everyone followed this advice and didn't work with new tools, there will be no documentations or videos that help you work around the bugs and show best practices.

yeah but then who becomes a senior engineer? I don't see any junior positions out there right now but TONS of senior positions. If companies don't want to invest in us when we have no experience, they're going to have a hard time in 10 years when there is nobody with any experience @@outtrigger
