This is the reason why buzzbaits and spinnerbaits don't work well. Even with a plastic trailer, the body is still stationary....only the tail kicks. On mine that I mod from Khan, the body has rollling and waggin action as well as the tail moving. That's the highest level of buzzbait fishing. You can't go beyond this, except if you're talking cosmetic changes. You don't skip buzzers bc there are lures for that. Honestly, a buzzbait is not needed. Your typical topwater selections can get the job done. Buzzbaits are just funner to run and you get the notoriety of catching them on such while feeling that Springtime vibe or whatever.

@@MattStefanFishing I have both the best spinnerbait and best buzzbait. That's what I am saying. Trust me that I can show you how to win a tournament on spinnerbait alone as long as the fish are up in the water or summer. Some secrets I cannot show. Need to sell.
@wolverinex42432 жыл бұрын
@@MattStefanFishing What I am saying on top is that stock buzzbaits aren't good. Modded buzzbaits are, but you gotta mod on twins blades. I was also saying once you know the best marketed topwaters, the buzzbait is obsolete. That's not just an opinion. I'm willing to challenge anyone any topwaters v. buzzbaits for money. But, like i said, even so, i still have the best buzzbaits as well the spinnerbait. I'd be willing to show you but it must for personal use, not show on YT until they truly come to understand them.
@wolverinex42432 жыл бұрын
@@MattStefanFishing Once you understand the whole, you will understand. Once you understand the underspin and spinnerbait and the stuff I recommend, you will have known. For example, you don't need two blades on a spinnerbait. That's why I told yall to get the overspin. Same thing, but better.
@wolverinex42432 жыл бұрын
@@MattStefanFishing My problem with throwing a buzzbait, esp my modded twin blades is poor castibility in the wind and that sinking aspect. That's why they never will beat the best market topwaters. That's to say you know the best lures. That's why I don't use them hardly....and won't recommend them. I have practically all the buzzbaits on the market on my walls. I don't use them. Sometimes I just throw my mods around for fun. The reason you have to get twin blades is it keeps it in linear swim, esp. once you've mod to get body and head of lure to have movement. With the one blade and you got a free moving head, the buzzbait will run to the side which the buzz blade turn much like tuning it to run 45 degrees across you. At this point the weight is no longer centered. See, you need to understand these things and more before being able to make the best buzzbaits. The action helps you to catch fish....so an understanding of that is required, then you must know the function of the buzzbait.

Great info. I completely agree that the skirt there mostly because that is what people are used to seeing. I have had some great days when fishing pressured water throwing a spinnerbait with a 4.8 keitech as a trailer and no skirt.

I am most likely missing a bite here and there, but I stopped throwing skirted buzzbaits years ago. In my mind castability outweighs the few times a skirted buzzbait might out fish a plastic trailer. 1/8 ounce skirted buzzbaits are legit!

The evolution I went through was just putting a curling tail worm on the back like I used to on my spinnerbaits. I then added torn Senkos for the added extra weight and then started adding a Fat Ika since they weighed more. But I noticed my hook up percentage went up. It seemed it gave them more meat to suck in. After awhile the bands on the skirts would deteriorate and if I didn’t tie them on I still through them with worms and toads and swimbaits before finding my favorite trailer the Pit Boss
