Was cutting an old metal pipe with an angle grinder, guard on, and I must've hit a weak part or something because it just suddenly went through and the grinder fell from my hands, if the cord wasn't caught up in the vise handle in a way it just left the grinder hanging, it would've fell straight into my bare feet in sandals just under it, or just danced in the ground. Was lucky it didn't hang too far down either, otherwise it could've swinged to my belly. Had to smoke a couple ciggies and a whiskey after that. Cheers Pete.

I bet those low temperature welding sticks were made of flame retardant plastic! That's the only logical reason why they'd be toxic let alone able to produce fumes under a cigarette lighter flame. Ones made of metal, like brazing rods may do that depending on the metal and the material of the objects that you're jointing bit even then the smoke is unlikely to be immediately toxic.

I use one hand on the five inch most of the time, but I also started working when blades were 3 mm/s thick. If I am working on substantial steal, awkward spots or just things that are not ordinary. I make sure I plan my cut, if something is a long cut and I know is going to spring in or out, I make sure I leave spots joined (etc) As for the 9 inch I have stood on the front face of a ladder facing a concrete wall on the third step of a 6 foot ladder and had that blade stop about inch away from my face and lucky i was strong becuase that ladder even know I was three Rungs up, on the front of it only the back two legs were actually on the ground when I stopped that grinder from smashing my face. I was 80 kg on the third step on the front side and it lifted me straight up and pushed the ladder about metre back when it jambed. All tools need to be used with respect and safely and even then they are deadly. You are not using the guard and you are not using the grip on the angle grinder. These two things reduced your control and safety of the tool. If a tool or accessory doesn't fit the unit its not designed for that tool. Even when a tool is being used with the appropriate bits even then they can hurt you if you are not careful. The other day I was screwing some metal screws in to some chipboard and the screw slipped off and the phillips head screw bit and plunged straight in to my palm bad luck happens sometimes even when you are careful.

The most chainsaw kickbacks come from using the nose of the bar, with the angle grinder chainsaw disc it is all nose of the bar profile so kickback is guaranteed, I suspect that the chain disc was meant for a five or seven inch grinder and not a four and a half inch so the guard could be left on with the bigger grinders, but with no chain brake etc it would still be dangerous. I for one will never buy one.
