STOP USING WORD: Try these writing apps instead

Word isn't for writing books, but for formatted documents. For long writing it's better to use something simplier, cleaner with basic options like Focus Writer or even terminal based Wordgrinder with autosave and nicely setup theme for no distraction. There's also Obsidian that supports Markdown if someone needs basic formatting without using mouse. There's no need to buy software like this since many great apps are FOSS and they are perfectly fine.

Is scrivener good for writing primarily youtube scripts? I love the design of Ulysses but I hate subscriptions lol

Thanks. This has been a really helpful video. I bought Scrivener some time ago and I just can not get on with it - and I think I know why now. The key was when you said that you export your work in to Word for final formatting and I've wasted so much time trying to get Scrivener to produce a finished work. I see that I should develop my content in Scrivener and then export it in to Word (I'm still using Word 2010 that I bought way back when).

I like the humor and the video. Also look into linear notetaking for outlining like programs like Dynalist or transno. I think you would love the outline format in these apps.

The Online Student mos def. also when I discovered Markdown when writing it sped up my writing process. I don’t know if you heard of it but it’s why I no longer had a need for google docs or Microsoft word. Ulysses has markdown if you haven’t take some time to play with it....you won’t be disappointed😉. Happy writing!

Word is a rip off, they expect you to pay a monthly subscription fee to use it, which means you can’t just buy the app, so yes I’m in for trying something else 💪🏼
