I make my own lights from plexiglass frames and LED strips. They all have 12v drivers, so my electricity consumption is minimal for an 8 to 12 hour period.

What led light strips do you use? Do they produce full spectrum with an option to customize the spectrum? If so, i would love a DIY guide on how to do it.

You go Brock. Cheap LED flood lights are the best.

Howdy Brock! Those are nice for the price. Good even lighting! Well done and thanks for sharing 🤠
@MarijkeWillemsen9909 күн бұрын
It’s a good price, but you should also look at the capacity etc for growing plants if you want a tank with a lot of plants.

LED strips have come a long way, but depending on how intense you want your light, lamp fixtures become more economical again, if you know where to buy. I have an entire thrifted setup on a 50 gallon corner tank, with fixtures and bulbs featuring high-power outdoor LED floodlights at daylight color temperatures. All told, lighting cost me 30 bucks, and it's brighter than the really fancy high end aquarium lights used for aquascapes.

Grow lights. Incubators, Cathedrals, all using advanced light to help living things. You can build those for cheeper. Maybe I missed you say their price. Few KZbinrs building them and selling the parts. I’ve built 30+ grow rooms, few of them have customized lights. A lot of them go together like solar panels now. Those Make that tank look very cool. The fish will be happy 🦾🎯

Fish can actually go weeks or longer without eating. If your tank is well established they will find whatevers living in the tank. I usually skip a few days a week, good to clear out there digestive tracts.

I am getting hung up on the idea of gradually turning on and off. When I do upgrade. That thing freaked me out turning on. And I'm not in the tank.

I was thinking about giving the AQQA lights a go. Going to try a tour of lots of the budget lights to see how well they work for me. Currently trying a nicrew on a low tech and it's performing in the low to okay performance range in terms of plant growth, even with very easy plants. Hygger budget lights seem to get good reviews but not sure how much people are demanding from them plant wise and I'm eager to see how they hold up.

Its Funny as the controller for the AQQU lights looks identical to the Hygger lights

I’ve got two hygger lights and they have very different controllers. Different from this one and different from each other.

So, led is a cheaper, more economical method of lighting. I think we established that 20 years ago.
@uncommonaquatics9 күн бұрын
I was only comparing LED lights to LED lights in the video. The regular lightbulbs are LED. The super expensive aquarium lights are LED. The lights I was showing in this video are also LED. What I was discussing was whether this particular brand of inexpensive LED lights are a good choice . I’m hesitant to order inexpensive lights online without testing them or seeing them first.
