Why not? I ran a car on Zippo fluid once. My pal parked on a very steep slope, when there was very littl gas in the tank. Traction was bad, and he burnt up the gas in the line, pump and bowel trying to get back up. Couldn't go down, it was a creek bank. I got his can of zippo fluid, raised the hood, and took the top off the air cleaner. He got the car out while I squirted a steady flow of zippo down the carb. The exhaust smelt great.

Yep, it had a strong smell, and when you turn it off in a closed spaced you cpuld see with your eyes how dirt from flame is gently falling down like some black tiny snowflakes. I was a kid and needed a lighter for starting fire when out in nature, fishing etc. But instead of zippo, I used Imco Triplex lighter. For those who dont know it, check it out. Its a bit better then zippo, and you can put tank out and use it as a little candle for as much as it has gawoline in it. And due to cap on bottom, fluid does not evaporate at all. Plus, its much easier and safer to start a fire with it then with zippo. Of course, no reason not to have as many as you wish of both and many others in collection 😎

In my country Zippo sells their fluid for 4.5$ a piece, which is actually cheap for me, since I’m a smoker I use it a lot. But butane is still a bit cheaper I guess. A metal Clipper lighter with Clipper’s flints and butane seems like the most sensible lighter available today. They sell slim metal versions, and they’re just 10$. They sell their flint stones and butane for just about the same price with Zippo, but they’re extremely high quality just like Zippo. And they’re basically indestructible just like Zippos. All metal and sturdy. But still, a butane lighter starts to malfunction at certain temperatures and humidities. Also the wind is your enemy when you are using a butane lighter. Zippo is perfect for all conditions and for life. The only back-draw of a Zippo is the well known fluid vaporization. Which is the actual reason why you spend so much money on the fluid. The fluid itself is actually much more economical compared to the butane. But it vaporizes continuously during the day, and needs a refill every few days even if you don’t use it at all. But since I’m a smoker who also uses the lighter for outdoor stuff, Zippo is actually the only viable solution for me. Maybe apart from a butane torch.

Kinda off topic, but maybe this'll help someone else: I received a trench lighter as a gift not long ago, and I wasn't sure what type of fluid to use, so I looked up that specific lighter. The description of the lighter, per the manufacturer said it takes kerosene... I put kerosene in it, and it lit up three times with a dozen spark attempts between each, and after that it just sparked with no flame, and ultimately no spark at all. I then bought Zippo fluid, but the kerosene already contaminated the inside of the lighter, so I had to take it apart and clean it with vinegar, and tried the Zippo fluid again, and it worked. So basically, don't use kerosene, even if the original instructions/source material says so lol
