I never buy souvenirs as a rule. I do try to buy my Mom a nice piece of costume jewelry or scarf but that’s about it. For me I also buy a scarf that is useful and is a nice reminder when I wear it at home or on other trips. The only touristy thing I buy is a nice souvenir keychain which I use until the next trip when I buy a new keychain and retire the old one to a key rack that displays them.

Yesss! I like how you actually USE your souvenirs. I bought my mom a scarf when I was in Sri Lanka in 2011 and she still has it! Buying souvenirs isn't always bad, you just have to buy for the right people ;)
