Just keep in mind that the Adjustment Clip uses the resolution of the timeline, not the clip. So scaling with Adj. Clip will always result in a loss of quality, even if we have an HD timeline with 6K clips on it.

I just recently learned that people use these for snap zooms instead of manually increasing a clip’s scale and I thought that was so smart considering how Resolve renders the color page AFTER the edit page, so masking and power windows on the color page don’t scale with the edit page.
@MrAlexTech Жыл бұрын
You know I never even thought about this as a benefit! Good point well made
@MrCostaClayton11 ай бұрын
Do they scale if you compound the clip? This will bake any colour/masking etc in to the clip before making any cuts or edits. I found if I didn't do this to a masked clip, when i came to cut the clip down, it would remove the mask and possibly the colour too

Is there a way to group or link an adjustment layer across multiple timelines? So for example sometimes i'll have the same color grade across all clips in a timeline, but have multiple timelines of similar clips, I want to adjust the adjustment layer 1 time and it will update across any timeline with that same adjustment clip.

I thought by using an adjustment clip for ONE of my tracks I'd save so much editing time... (I created a crop, transform, position adjustment clip so that my face would move to the corner and my screen would have to be edited.....) But the whole screen is black, as I just found out here the same adjustment is happening to the screen on the track below... so sad 😢 Anyone knows how to get around this....?

This is so great, thanks! And the timing of this video is incredible. I was literally driving somewhere today thinking about editing and wondering how I can achieve exactly what these adjustment clips do. I recently did a video where I wanted to apply a little bit of camera shake, and it felt silly to cut the clip at the start/end for that. And getting each part perfect was a pain having to undo/redo to line it up perfectly.. Being able to size the effect with sliders is a game changer.

Great tips- I actually discovered this exact same workflow a while ago - but saving these to Power Bins is an 'add-on' for me now!! The ONLY thing to remember about Adjustment Clips is they cannot do any time-based effects/adjustments- so motion blur, time based NR etc will not work in them.
@VoiceOfVoiced Жыл бұрын
This is superbly well explained, including "Puppet masters", I like that for how it describes the implications for clips hanging below the adjustment clip. I was actually looking for exactly this tool (adjustment clips) having used it several years ago and having now forgotten what it was called or where to find it. So you are a legend, for bringing the solution and also explaining it so clearly and also for making it fun. Thank you. :)

Yeah, the Adjustment Clip is an awesome, versatile tool which can be applied for nearly every effect. But as I understand, it's still not possible to limit the effects of an Adjustment Clip just onto the clip being below the Adjustment Clip in case that there are more than one clip below each other, right?
@AerialEmber Жыл бұрын
That is correct. I've even tried getting around this with compound clips, but apparently an adjustment clip in a compound destroys any transparency the clips in the compound once had.

Hello, my problem with power bins is that every now and then when I drag my adjustment clips back on the time line they don't work anymore. When you go to their fusion page to make adjustments. The timeline in fusion no longer shows frame 0 to frame 24 (assuming it is one second), but shows the actual # of the frame within my edit time line (ie frame 8000 to 8024), and because when I made the adjustment clip originally in frame 0 to 24, then it no longer shows on frames 8000-8024 if that makes sense Somewhere I read that you can rename the adjustment clip to Holder and then redrag, that'll make it work..it did work a bit, but the problem continues...this started about 5 davinci versions ago and is still the same version 19
