I love to goof off with my Jazz bass. It's more about therapy for me when I play bass. Kinda reminds me of how it felt when I played the mandolin as a 15 year old just having fun.

Why arpegiate "from the chord shape" but lift your fingers out of that shape and fret each string individually? I see it often. Doesn't it work to leave your fingers in the chord and pick each string the order you want to get same effect?
