09:38 - "...here's where it gets interesting". So everything up to that point has been mundane? If it gets any more interesting my head is going to explode! Another amazing lesson. Thank you so much Wayne

This is fantastic! I really like this "device" approach to improvising. That last set with the minor progression is tasty. Thank you!

Hello Wayne, Just listening to the Bluegrass Ramble Saturday night radio show in Columbus. DJ Rich Baker just played you and your wife doing Fest of Rudy, which I enjoyed. Congratulations to your family for everything.

Man Wayne, what you played at 5:05 is the exact same lick I was learning from a song. Now not only can I play it, but now I understand it! Thanks!! 👍

Thanks Wayne! This is going to open up my fretboard., You have me down an enclosure rabbit hole. I watched a guitar video where he played the C major scale with enclosures. Question is: when enclosing a whole diatonic scale on mandolin, would you continue the technique in this video, where you moved your middle finger to each target note of the chord, in this case to each successive diatonic scale tone? Hope this makes sense. Thanks again!

Hey what you are talking about is playing the arpeggios of the song . So that means I can play around with the arpeggios to the bluegrass song blue night,by just using the arpeggios of the chords to that song
@waynesworldofmandolin3616
@waynesworldofmandolin3616 Жыл бұрын
Yep. The arpeggios provide an outline of the chord and you serve the song using that foundation. Check out the Hotrize version of that song while your at it. Tim does some great mandolin playing with amazing groove on that cut.

I don't know the song - I like the turnaround at the end. It's helpful to see how/where they show up.

That turnaround at the end I played for the sticker challenge is Doyle's intro to The redeemed are Coming Home. One of my favorite DLQ gospel songs...

I have a crippled pinky and just can't play a 4 finger g chord. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to improvise instead of playing a 4 finger g instead of just playing a 2 finger g?

Gheez Wayne, the more I see in those You tubes the more I realize I need to spend more time with....thanks! Question on the side....the frets you have on that mandolin look a little larger than normal....true? What Mandolin is it? Thanks!

It's a Stanley mandolin I bought a few years ago on Mandolincafe. Those frets were in it already and are guitar sized for sure. Fun mando to pick for sure. I think everyone should own a good A model mandolin.....
