Please consider renaming this something like capping off a leak at the valve. I was looking for how to stop the actual leak. Something like replace an O-ring or tightening the hex nut or something like that

Thanks Scott! Excellent tip to keep these handy in my emergency go to kit for home repairs and emergencies. One other suggestion is to keep 1/2” and 3/4” SharkBite caps in the kit too in case your water pipe busts from being frozen in the winter you can quickly cut the copper or plastic water line to temporarily shut the water off in that area by using these reusable caps.

Thank you for this video!!! I finally realize these quick on and off valves are not the cats meow that I ASS -U-ME - d they were. I think 2 regular faucets are simpler to repair. I come to this conclusion because they aren’t faucets you turn on and off regularly. Usually you install you washer hose make sure it doesn’t leak and you are done. Leaks usually happen when tenants move, when you close the faucet to change the hoses...

Washer hoses usually burst on a Sunday when the family left for a weeks vacation on a Saturday. Turn valves off after each use (but who does?).

OR ... just screw on a hose nozzle in an emergency. Instead of letting it leak while you run to the hardware store. I do wonder sometimes how many people even know where the water shut off valve is in their houses. And if they do, do they periodically exercise it to ensure it will not be stuck when the next water emergency arises?

I actually like the idea 👍 I bet about 75% of home owners don't know where their main shutoff is located and especially not in an emergency scenario when you need to think fast!

Converting an old laundry room into a storage room. Unhook the washing machine hose from the valve to find out that both of them were leaking, from hot more so than cold. My question is capping knees safe for a long-term solution? I'm afraid of a possible excess build up of water pressure

Have you ever retrofitted a valve with a moisture sensor? Thinking about doing this for our front load washer. Would make for an awesome video.
