Absolutely the best visual demonstration I have seen yet on why I consistently slice my driver. What a great inexpensive way to build a tool to use to defeat the most maddening part of my game. Oh yeah, thank you for this video and I hope some day to drive the ball like you did in the video - impressive straight as an arrow.

SMASH FACTOR GOLF COACHING What a great round I had. Thanks for the great reminder not to roll the hands over in the back swing. Old bad habit had crept back in and it was perfect timing that you did this video. I shot 41 on the front which is the harder 9. I had decided to walk, but the temp was 40 with the humidex so the back 9 was not as good as my energy flagged even with lots of electrolytes and water. Should have ridden. Can only have 3 carts per group right now with Covid so did not want to leave one out. Still very happy with the result...one change can make a huge difference. Crazy game...lol

@@SMASHFACTORGOLFCOACHING so tried this yesterday. Great visual aid .gave me confidence knowing if i pointed sponge more down i had a square club face.for meit helped more on the downswing as i was opening the face here and didnt realise. Had great results with irons and driver was getting there.but you can definitely feel a more powerful consistent stike.thanks again

I played today I play off of 12 handicap, but have been struggling with direction for a few weeks. After watching this video I kept this in mind and shot 75 gross, best score I’ve had for over a year. It really helped me visualise club face control and keeping my right shoulder down coming into impact. Thank you very much. For anyone struggling with club face control watch this video the visuals really helped me. No for the next challenge, repeating it when playing my next round.

Natalie, it looks like you, on the downswing, actually bring the clubhead & shaft under the plane, and then, up. I never thought to do that, but I'll try. I own a Martin Chuck (the gadget man) plane station. It's a wooden block with holes drilled into it. The holes enable a golf student to push an alignment rod into the block and have it set up predictable angles: 30 degrees, 45 degrees, etc. I'm going to deliberately set that rig up so that I must swing below my set up angle in order to hit the ball. I can't wait to see how this, under the plane and up, works out. I own alignment rods, so I can set the fore & aft planes up without too much effort: under the aft plane & over the fore plane. Never heard an instructor say that before, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks, Natalie.

Where should the butt end of the driver point at address? At the belly button? Above it? Below it? Should the butt end of any club point at the same spot on the body or is it different for short irons as opposed to fairway or rescue clubs? Is it different for a tall person versus a short person?
@SMASHFACTORGOLFCOACHING8 ай бұрын
It should point level but just to the left (for a right handed golfer) of your belly button. Ball position will change for different clubs but the butt end will generally always point there irrelevant of height

@@SMASHFACTORGOLFCOACHING Hi Natalie, I tried this drill earlier. It was the 'dropping of the arms and rotating of hands' from top of downswing that I need to work on. When I do and get it right, then Boom! The slower I swing, the more I can control this. i.e. the speed I take the backswing up, if I start the downswing at the same speed / tempo and then accelerate towards ball, this works well. Maybe I have been 'throwing' the club out or speeding things up at the top which is causing me those horrendous shots far off to the right. Thanks... love this drill. Great to spot the flaw and where exactly in swing it is happening.

Nice video. I use a bit of white electrician tape on top section of driver so I can see how open or closed the face is at the hit. Helps a lot. I shall try to tape a short bit of a alig.stick to visualise the direction even better. What du you think on that?

Played today, 70 percent of my drives were both offline right and left...often very heavy offline...like 30+ yards :P I came home really confused about what I'm doing on my drives....I make contact, the ball flies....but never know where too. Hi Nat, noticed that you have quite a wide stance rather than a narrower one when taking your tee shot a lot of golf teachers say a narrower is better what do you think l would be interested to know what your thoughts are....l have a free voucher for a 4 ball at Rhyl golf club which l am hoping to use soon never played there before so l am looking forward to it looks in great condition...many thanks and stay safe Arthur
@SMASHFACTORGOLFCOACHING4 жыл бұрын
Hi Arthur if you want to generate distance you need a wide stance (it’s all to do with force and pressure and it increases your moment arm but I won’t bore you with the science on this 😊) If you want to hit it long widen your feet, up to 60cms. enjoy your round at Rhyl, please let me know how you get on. thursdays video is the mammoth par 5 at Rhyl so keep a look out. take care
@nickfewings284 жыл бұрын
Driving is the nemesis of my game. Tending to push right, but then hit straight. I notice you have the ball almost outside of your left foot. The further forward in my stance the ball is the more I feel I scoop it and I get height but no length.
