Even without hacking the mechanism, the mechanism can only maintain 16 combinations. You could run a binary sequence to decode the truth table in quick succession. Even a tumbler key mechanism adds a deterrent layer of having the skills and tools to decode, but they also run 5 to 6 tumblers which doubles or quadruples the number of combinations to decode the key. I would not recommend this box as a proper solution to keep access away from kids. That might be lost on folks who miss the part of this being a retention box, and not a lock box.

I calculated 31 combo [(2^5)-1], since 00000 doesn’t open. Did I do it wrong ?

@@notmenowhere the thumb is the release, so only 2^4, and I think 0000 will open, but not sure. It really is a fairly cool retention device, but I saw a marketing ad seemingly imply that it be used to keep kids out.

@@10t0esdown Or you could just chuck it against the wall, or even just stomp on it once. Heck, I think you can just sit on it to break it open since it's just plastic. There are steel cases that have a steel retaining wire you can wrap around a building support or bed frame to prevent someone from stealing your guns. This is clearly meant for housing with adults and no children.

@@shippo72 then why would they market it for families and why would you need a case at all then if no kids and not a theft deterrent?
