I went off the pill 9 months ago after about 6 years on it (im 31). I definitely saw a lot of positive changes from the beginning but my skin broke out terribly and i've never had acne, even as a teen. It's calmed down a lot now but i'm not out of the woods. Still glad to have gone off it and charting my cycle has worked great for me. Now hoping to have a baby within the next year. I enjoyed a lot of benefits from being on the pill but I also feel like i'm back in my body and mind in a lot of ways. I don't intend to use hormonal contraception again in the future.

Just to balance things out I must admit I was put on the pill by my GP as I suffered from such severe menstrual cramps at 22 that I vomited if I didn't get painkillers early enough. I didn't even need birth control at the time but the benefits for me far outweighed any mild side effects I had. We're all different and what works for one won't necessarily work for another x

I agree the pill does work for other reasons other than contraception. I've always had extremely heavy periods and extremely bad period pains however being on the pill ( for contraception reasons) has completely calmed it down and I have normal periods now and normal pains, some months on the pill I won't even get a period. In that sense for me it is so much better for me to be on the pill however since being on the pill it has effected my mood drastically and makes me feel ill. Everything works different for different people, I had the iud implant 2 times and that just made me bleed even heavier than my bad periods, were as some women get no bleeding at all, just depends on how it reacts to the body.

I had the same pain and vomiting up until my early 20s. I was on bc and it helped but then I decided to stop around the same time I stopped eating dairy to clear my skin and started eating more fruit and veggies and supplements. The period pain went away and so did the sinus infections and allergies I used to get every year. Not sure if they are related or if I just grew out of it 🤷🏼‍♀️ but might be worth a try. Turns out I was allergic and didn’t know it. I never had tummy issues and it took a long time to figure out. Mid 30s now and debilitating cramps are no longer part of my life, and I haven’t had a sinus infection or allergies in almost 10 years and my skin has stayed clear!

Also, please make a video how you manage to discipline yourself and wake up before 5am!! How much do you sleep then? Which workouts work for you? It takes a long time for hormone levels to circulate through the body and to drop, it can take a few months, so you could continue to see the impacts and experience changes. I personally went off of birth control in February and I found it took me about 4 months to really feel like it wasn't impacting me anymore. Everyone is different, I definitely thought it was smooth sailing and then 2 months after I went off there were some noticeable changes again. It's amazing how long those things can have an influence on our bodies.

I had the implant for 3 years before my first baby and thought I had minimal side effects but when I had it removed and then got pregnant I felt like I was so much happier and the ‘best version’ of me, after breastfeeding I went onto the mini pill and within 2 weeks I was miserable, the hormones really messed me up! So I came off it and I’ve been so much happier being able to track my periods and mood without artificial hormones. I am pregnant again now with my second child but it was planned and we found it fairly easy to be ‘safe’ and not get ‘accidentally’ pregnant until we were ready. Definitely won’t be having hormonal contraception ever again!

I also went off the pill back in June and I was SUPER itchy for a couple weeks. I had no idea it was hormones balancing. I thought I was eating something I was having a reaction to and then all of a sudden, no itchiness. It did take me an additional month to get my period back which surprised me, but I feel pretty normal now that I've been off for almost three months (after thirteen years of use). I started to get a lot of noticeable depression and anxiety two years ago and just hated how I was feeling. I didn't know the pill was behind most of my health complaints until my Dr educated me more in-depth about side effects this past Spring. I'm very happy I stopped it. I hope it makes you feel better as well!

I absolutely support your choice and agree with the reasoning, but perhaps "poison my system" is not the right terminology... Many of us on the pill use it to control or help with the medical conditions. They're not poison, you're not doing anything wrong by taking them, and you're not being "bad" to your body! If you are in a heterosexual relationship and your family is complete, we definitely need to eradicate this harmful idea that women are fully responsible for the couple's reproductive health, but we also need to put more research into birth control pills with fewer side effects. =)

@@LiviettaG I am so happy you have found something that helps your body type. I am 47 and my daughters are 22 and 19. Any pill I tried had massive side effects and the same with both my girls. @@genevieve6983 I agree, my choice of words was probably not the best. Good for you, Anna! ❤️ Coming off birth control was one of my best decisions ever! Without even really noticing, on the pill I became emotionally unstable, I gained 7 kgs within 2-3 years (mind you, I started with 50 kgs, so this is kind of a big change percentage-wise), and I was just fully not myself. Back when I started taking the pill I didn't know that there were other possibilities, but there are! The pill is a great possibility, and it can work marvelously for some, but I wish society would educate women more on every option, not just a few. I've been following the Sensiplan method for over a year now, which is a scientifically studied double-check fertility awareness method, which is proven to be over 99% effective - which is about the same as the pill. I'm much more in touch with my body, I lost all the weight in 12 months without doing anything differently, and most importantly, my emotions are back to normal and I feel like myself again. Disclaimer: I don't consider weightgain a bad thing, but when you put artificial hormones in your body and it makes you gain a ton a weight, that is just not your body's natural state.

I have only been watching your family vlogs a short time and your own personal ones even shorter. I love that you face the camera without make up... So many you tubers, and their pre teen daughters won't turn the camera on without a full face on.. I find it hard to see those kids who in some ways should still be playing with toys etc being moulded into a world where they feel they must look perfect, and then how much make up they are putting on their young skin. If I watch a family type vlog especially, I couldn't give two hoots if they are dressed up to the nines or wearing pj's with last night's dinner dropped down. I want the reality, the raw. So I find it refreshing to see you happy to wander about in your pj's letting the dogs out, no make up, hair undone... It is real, it is beautiful. Because I think that it's important to yourself as you are... That is where somebody really shows their true beauty. (obviously it goes without saying you look beautiful with make up too.) Thank you for keeping it real x

I have that itchiness. Have had it for years, especially at night. I scratch an itch (normally just touching it helps) and it starts up immediately in another spot. It moves from heat to toes. Sometimes I can’t fall asleep because of it. But there’s nothing visible there! No redness or dry skin. I do believe it has something to do with a medication I’m taking, though it doesn’t mention that side effect in the leaflet.

I hate being on the pill I feel so down all the time, so tired I don't even know how to explain it, ive tried 3 different kinds of pills and I just feel so bad and depressed. I don't really want to use contraception anymore,because I think it messes with your body to much and just makes you feel crap, I keep thinking I'm only 22 and can't imagine being on contraception for the next 20 years or so it makes me feel even more depressed, my hubby won't get a vesectomy either, he wants me to get my tubes tied which is obviously something I don't wanna do at 22, even though I'm pretty certain we be having any more kids as we have one of each now. But obviously I'm 22 in the future I could change my mind. get so angry some times that he won't even consider a vesectomy, yet complains so much about my mood swings on contraception and can see the mental and physical problems it's giving me. It's so easy for men.

You should talk to your doctor about a non-hormone IUD. Maybe the implant was too much for your body after kids and was causing heavier periods. I'm all for not adding extra hormones if you can help it. This worked wonders for a friend of mine who was pretty certain she was done having kids as well but didn't want to tie her tubes just yet. I hope you find what works for you. I know all too well about heavy bleeding, endometriosis, and PCOS. I ended up having to have a full hysterectomy at 37. Since they took my ovaries, I wear an estrogen patch since it's way too early for my body to go thru menopause. And yes, men need to step up. It's easier for them to get a reversal. Tube ties are usually permanent!

@@nicholebradshaw5687 is the iud the coil? I went to the gp just before lockdown and she did recommend that one to me, she said she didn't think it would be painful to have put in aswell considering I've had children, I decided to go with it but after speaking to my sister in law she said someone she knew had it and it was like giving birth it was that painful so it completely put me off so I just changed my type of pill, I am considering it at this point though. Thank you for the advice. My mum had her tubes tied at 28 and she has always regretted it as she wanted more children after. I don't think it would be something I'd be able to go through at any stage of my life unless necessary.i wish they would come up with some other kind of contraception for men 😂
@nicholebradshaw5687
@nicholebradshaw5687 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is sometimes referred to as a coil. I think it all depends on the doctor putting it in. My friend was able to go back to work the same day. She had some mild cramping but nothing like childbirth. I don't even think they were as bad as her regular period cramps. I think some doctors are just more gentle than others. Also, if you're as relaxed as possible, it will probably hurt less since your muscles won't be tense. There are several different ones on the market. Here is a great article I found about different types of IUDs available outside of the US. Maybe the pain at insertion was caused from it being to big for her uterus. Definitely ask lots of questions. We, as women, have to be our own advocates for many things. www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/523077/

@@nicholebradshaw5687 yeah I've heard alot of stories about them but I'm probably just coming across all the bad experiences rather than the good, I'll try reading some positive stories. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I do think I would be okay, however I have aniexty expecially with these kinds of things. I've had the nexplanon put in and taken out a total of 4 times altogether and I was nervous every time although the nurses everytime said I didn't even flinch whilst they was doing it. Thank you for the link I'll check that out!

@Ayesha Gulam thank you for the advice sister. Yes I was aware that getting something like tubes tied wasn't allowed in Islam, that's one of the reasons I wouldnt get it done expecially as I'm still so young too. My sister in law is 28 yet wants to get tubes tied after a few years when her youngest daughter is a bit older, I've told her Islamically it's not allowed but she is still persistent on getting it done. I think I'm going to go with the hormone free iud, the hormones in pills are just too damaging to the body and I don't want to do that either, I wish I never started it as it just makes me feel so low and no energy at all.i didn't know vesectomy was also haram I thought it was just getting tubes tied so thank you for letting me know, also I really appreciate the fact you noticed my name and that I'm Muslim and took time to give me advice as a Muslim, thank you sister.

There is a copper IUD (coil) which is a hormone free long term contraceptive that I feel a lot of doctors fail to mention. They last 10 years and have little to no side effects so you still have your regular periods and things. Something to think about if you aren’t looking for a baby number 5!

Wishing you the best of luck hormone free it really is the best way ❤️

I completely understand wanting to come off the pill. I wish I could go off it completely. I've done so on and off but it's difficult with my PCOS. The pill helps with my hormonal imbalance. Without it I get depressed, emotional, etc. I don't like taking it but in my case it's necessary at this point so I can feel like myself the downside is the weight gain and difficulty losing it..

The thought of getting a coil freaked me out initially, but I wouldn’t go back to anything else.
