Perfect sir. Nothing more to say. My favorite poem since childhood. Im 47. A war veteran. This is priceless. You've taken me back to the woods, snow, I'f I only knew how many miles to go before I sleep. I have a brain injury and never sleep. I listen to this and dream of the woods.

@@DirArronQuinn I'd like to believe it conveys the human predicament of being amidst nature. Being a part of nature. Yet being somehow unable to experience a natural life. And having been forced by his own wonderful creativity to live an unnatural, artificial life !! The dichotomy is that you cannot deny that iPhones and laptops aren't useful. At the same time you can not deny that today the average human is almost completely cut off from nature !! Look at the kids !! They don't play in a playground any more, the playgrounds are haunted with the laughter of our generation back when we were kids !!

My Mother passed away in September, 2012 after long illness. She was only 69. She had been a caregiver to my Dad with M.S. all her life, married at age 19. Their life was hard, filled with many challenges, and she took on more than anyone should. In the end, it led to her premature death due to putting everyone else before herself, and not addressing underlying health conditions. This poem sure fit her life, and it it's a sad one, but a reminder of the importance of self-care, and how obligations and responsibilities can overshadow and overcome an individual's life. She chose this poem to be read at her memorial service.

Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound’s the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep
