Nope.
@osurpless9 жыл бұрын
Nope, I like the puzzles and it helps make it unique among survival horror games in the copy and paste Resident Evil era, as opposed to something like Cold Fear in the post RE4 era. I do believe that considering the hype and pedigree of the developers (Mikami and Hideki Kamiya to boot), it isn't wrong (especially from a modern perspective looking back) to have expected more of the game.

+VegetaHitsGirls The truth is in my experience the general consensus has usually been DC 1 is a very good game while DC2 was a bit of a letdown for going all action. DC 1 received top reviews back when it came out and I bought it right away. Having been in love with the new survival horror genre perfected by Res Evil 1 and 2, the game had it all but with dinosaurs this time. DC 1 is an all time great in the genre. DC 2 was a huge letdown for those expecting more of the same. Can't believe they wasted the sequel making it an action game.

I disagree with this review. Dino Crisis 1 did more for the survival horror genre than many other games. The puzzles were varied rather than stale, and they actually were hard rather than stupidly easy like in Resident Evil. Those things you complain about, you'll blowing them out of proportion. And some of those things don't even make sense at all. Dino Crisis 2 was fun, but it was an action game, and that thing couldn't possibly called "Survival Horror".

There's one thing you did not notice in Dino Crisis 1. They're mercenaries, not a police rescue team. They are not there to save the world. They're there to rescue the VIP (Dr. Kirk) and leave. That simple. No dilemmas. No kindness, just a reward to receive. One impression I had while playing, is that they were Umbrella mercenaries, like those in RE3. If the characters become deeper or interpretive, the spirit of "mercenaries" would probably be lost, since Regina is a charismatic protagonist. In my opinion, if you could change the protagonist for Sylvester Stallone, the game would be exactly the same game, which makes your proposal a success, a group of "expendables", only with a less charismatic character. Nothing to say about Dino Crisis 2. And I wanted to know more about Regina, too.

First one of Dereks reviews I completely disagree with. (although fair since these are opinions). Dino Crisis 1 was fantastic. I love survival horror genre and DC1 is more like Res Evil and Silent Hill but with Dinos. it had plenty of memorable moments and great tension that is built throughout the story. The puzzle solving is typical Res Evil style fare which is great for this style of game. Nothing crazy like you mention. Dino Crisis 2 to me was a huge letdown. I was excited to get back to some more real survival horror but it turned out to be a mindless action game. I gave it a few good long plays but the absolute letdown of it not being a survival horror game ruined it for me. DC1 is a legit all time great survival horror game up there with Res Evil 1-3 (and CV), Silent Hill, etc. Capcom knew the genre so well and it showed.

What impressed me in Dino Crisis 2 is the use of motion capturing on in-game engine despite the limited use of the hardware, and it shows they fully utilized the system and put it in a good use. I can't believe your review! I thought that the puzzles made the game far more enjoyable as there was more to just shooting dinosaurs. The idea of the plugs also impressed me as ammo supply was limited and that made it into more of a survival horror. I found this to be quite a challenging game when it first came out and I'm still playing it today and I'm still enjoying it as I did all those years ago. Ok, the second game was more of a 'shoot em up' and had more of a storyline but the first one was more challenging! You notice people who play challenging games will throw their controllers on the floor and get angry but they will pick it back up the next day or in a few hours time and attempt to complete the game. The only problem would be the lack of dinosaurs in this game.

The reality of Dino Crisis is very simple. Like Onimusha, each installment sold less and less. DC1 sold 2.4m, DC2 1.2, and DC3 less than 1m (probably something like sub-500k considering it only released on Xbox and was critically panned), while development costs grew. While at the same time Capcom had Onimusha and Devil May Cry which also sold more per iteration. The best way to re-introduce the series and to gauge its popularity would be making both games available on Steam. After that, possibly adding Dino Crisis characters, enemies and levels to Mercenaries in a mainline Resident Evil game.

That intro was just the best! This game really does love puzzles and a lot of em! While I do like Dino Crisis well enough after having just played it for the first time, (I'm currently on my second playthrough) I do think that it is tedious and confusing when compared to either Resident Evil or Silent Hill. I get that puzzles are a thing in early survival horror, and even to this day, but Dino Crisis has SO MANY! So many that the actual "survival" part can become less fun and more annoying. Nothing is worse than having to backtrack across the entire facility trying to find a memo that had a number you need, but having no idea which one it was or where. All the while having raptors chomping at your ass! If it's not puzzles, then it's searching for codes. Codes to open safes. Codes to open doors. Fingerprints which serve as codes. Don't dare open a computer terminal cause it will absolutely require you to solve yet another...you guessed it...puzzle! I'm also surprised by some of the design choices when you consider this was released after both RE and SH. For example, the lack of having memos remain in your inventory. That's some brutal old school survival horror cruelty right there! You either need to play with a walkthrough handy or write every single number combination down. On a first playthrough, you WILL get lost. Probably multiple times. For one thing, the environments are very samey. I get that it takes place in a facility, but man the rooms all start to blend together. Before you know it, you're looking at your map and can't tell the Locker Room from the Lecture Room! And yeah, that end generator stuff is the definition of tedium. I am actually glad that I'm giving it a second go though. This time around I have a lot more of the facility memorized and have learned to mix my items for maximum benefit. Basically, poison darts are the single greatest thing ever! This game does have good ideas. The raptors are appropriately formidable, resilient, and their ability to follow you into rooms makes them a constant threat. I will say though, that I'm not a fan of respawning enemies in survival horror. I much prefer the RE style, where if you manage your resources and make every shot count, you can get to where you're free to move about the cabin...at least, till the next area. I feel like the game would be more enjoyable with more of the Dinos, and a few less puzzles. Both RE and SH we're able to strike a good balance in this regard, so if this ever gets a remake, I hope they focus on the "survival" aspects. The game, as a whole, is actually really good about this. Resources are scarce, and often force you to choose between healing items or ammunition. Throw in a bit more enemy variety with maybe an extra boss or two...and I could see this being a modern hit. I look forward to seeing what Dino Crisis 2 has to offer...

Now imagine a properly remastered Dino Crisis! A modernized take on the solidly made survival horror game. And with some extra features put in there. Some things I would personally want: * A deeper story, with much more content to go through - Maybe include more researchers, and the possible ability to save more people. * More weapons to choose from, such as a more powerful handgun (like a Desert Eagle or a large caliber revolver) and maybe add a 9mm submachine gun (like an MP5 or something similar) * The ability to choose between classic fixed cameras, or a more modern style third person / first person perspective * The addition of a very challenging mode, where ammo and other resources are very limited, and / or stronger enemies. * Also, for fun.. Adding some multiplayer features like a team based PvP mode where you can pick between playing as a survivor or a Dino. A deathmatch style game that utilized the accessible areas through the facility, where every floor acted as a separate map (1st and 2nd floors would count as one)

Errr... i wouldnt say im a hipster . i think the first one is better but its just personal taste overall . It doesn mean that everyone is a hipster because they like the first one better . Its just like Zelda 2 on the nes . Some love it , some hate it.

Yeah. I just disagree when someone says the game is shit because there is not many puzzles or whatever. Zelda 2 is okay, just cryptic... but so Dark Souls

Dino Crisis 2 is excellent. I loved going Melee with the male character. That's when you know a Tank-controlled game is so well done. When you can melee no problem. (Ehem...Code Veronica... Ehem...)

I consider myself a guy that appreciates gaming and I am old school. I enjoy games of all types from RPG`s all the way to Sports as I was an athletic until my mid 30`s.I played Dino Crisis back in 2000 and I thought Capcom did an excellent job. At the time myself and many others thought it was epic. I recently played Dino Crisis 2 a few days ago. A 16 year gap between playing the two and loved it like the first one. Like I said, I am old school gamer and many gamers like myself were along for the ride and saw gaming grow over the years. If you look at these games, their era, as a huge gamer I thoroughly appreciated them for what they were. To compare games from 15 to 20 years ago to the standards of today is apples and oranges to an extent in my humble opinion. Now, let be very clear, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and its great that you do video`s. However, not every fan has to agree with your comments. I look back at Capcom in those days and thought they did a great job. If you read this, thanks for taking the time and keep making videos. Thanks

Your opinion on Dino Crisis weirdly reminds me of how I felt about Ninja Gaiden for a while. I hated the last couple of stages because it got so repetitive from the Final Boss glitch and it almost felt as if those stages WERE almost the entirety of the game. I haven't really played Dino Crisis, so your review will brace me for the day I do play it, but the great ideas you mentioned seem super interesting to play with.

I like Dino Crisis. I miss Regina too. ... on a completely... well it's kind of a related note, did you all know there is a game that is Resident Evil with vampires? Yes... that exists... and it's in Vegas! Well it takes place in a casino, but it could be in Vegas for all I know. It's been a while. Anyway, it's called Countdown Vampires and I would like to see a review on it. I just hope finding a copy of it isn't a chore.

6:18 you only have to build the initializer and stabilizer if you side with rick when they discuss how to get the generator working, if you choose gail's option then you just head over to b3's storage area and pick up already completed ones except the path you have to traverse is full of the big grey dinos that fuck you up as opposed to the much weaker and fewer raptors you find on your way to the places where you build them. So one part is faster but more risky and one part is much slower but also much more safe in case you are on your first playthrough and are short on healing items, ammo and/or didn't activate all supply boxes.

I bought them both back when they came out and only played Dino Crisis once and have no memories of it, really. Dino Crisis 2, however, holy hell. I am not a speedrunner gamer but I repeatedly speedran the heck out of that game and absolutely loved it.

I'm currently playing Dino Crisis again and it definitely overstays its welcome. But until that point, its amazing. The art direction is on point.

I have alot of sentimental fondness for Dino Crisis 1. It was one of the PS1 games I had very memorable nights with. To me, the key-code decrypting is just the kind of problem-solving that puts me in my comfort zone, pulling out a note pad to see past the illusion and figure out the game's logic. However, I must ultimately agree. During the last third especially, I suddenly found myself asking the question "When does all this come back to being a horror game?" Even Resident Evil, scary as it wasn't, never lost sight of the fact that it was still about surviving a horror. In Dino Crisis, the "survival" is done and over with by the halfpoint. The tricks are all played out by that point. It's got nothing up it's sleeve anymore. Resident Evil is good about drip-feeding the progression of the threat. It starts as soon as the poison status gets introduced during the Yawn fight and later in the dorms. One of the most defining moments of the first Resident Evil was the introduction of Hunters. Just as you thought the enemy was known, it pulls those bastards out. Nimble, pop out of corners, resilient and sporting a 1-hit kill decapitation attack. Suddenly, the corridors that had become familiar to you don't seem as safe anymore. Game-changers are a necessity to keep horror engaging. Yeah, we all remember how iconic the Grunt of Amnesia; The Dark Decent was, but imagine if that was the only enemy? You'd just get too used to the guy after a while and get that sense of safety knowing that you've already overcome what is the most dangerous thing the game has to offer. That's why I always stick with mah main man Brute, for being a brilliant moment of knocking players off their feet when they thought they had hope. After dealing with Grunt enough times, suddenly we get a new, fucked up monstrosity that 1-shots you and things suddenly get REAL intense again after that. Without that element, the Dinos in Dino Crisis get too familiar with the player. They're mostly an interchangable blob of enemies that don't slope steep enough to accommodate the player's advancement. All they manage is to keep up with you, when they are supposed to be overwhelming you with things you hadn't prepared for.

A dino crisis vs a crisis with dinos. Pretty important distinction and well put. ;) Maybe Capcom could take some of that Resident Evil remake buzz and throw Dino Crisis a remake of its own.

Dino Crisis 1&2 are good games. The first one didn't need a complex plot and the second one was fun as hell. I know I'm biased but I think these games are great. They're no Silent Hill but I prefer them to RE which I know I'm probably alone in thinking.

i like how different these two games are despite being a series, back then i prefer dino crisis 2's gameplay because i can spend my time shooting dinosaurs without worrying about my resources, now i like the first one's puzzle survival style gameplay, it makes the game harder and more scary

This was one of my second favorite of horror games, 1st was resident evil but I never actually got to play it, until later on when I was older. When the 1st dino crisis game came out. I was terrified! My dad had to play it instead while I guided him but when there was a clacking sound of the raptor or snorting sound I had to quickly cover my eyes while my dad fought it. We could never beat it and always got stuck at the chief door which at the time we didnt know how to do the puzzle. When I got older i decided to try it out for myself (also with a few cheats) finally beat the game! After all those YEARS!
