I just did this same thing with my Mom. Got her down to one tub! It was a Christmas miracle! You're Mom must have energy like she's still in her 30's to want to pull those all back out and put up decor for Christmas in less than a month!

Younkers, VonMaur shirt boxes, all the saved tissue paper, the gobs and gobs of ornaments... this closet could be mine. I wish with all my heart that my daughter would bring my granddaughter over for a day to do this exact massive purge/organize with me. (She lives way too far away from me for that, sadly.) Anyhow. It means the world to your mom, Gabbi. I love you doing these "odd jobs" for your family. Your dad, your grandma... I am just glad you're home now. :) I have adopted you as mine too, and will channel your energy and enthusiasm to tackle my hobbit closet.

It looks good! Another idea is to hang the gift bags by category on large hooks, but only if your mom wants to. Either way, it looks great and feels good to declutter and organize.

Your videos are perfect example s why at this stage in my life I don't decorate much . I have become a minimalist . My goal is a place for everything and everything in it's place . I don't keep all the books I ever read ! I buy them and garage sales and thrift stores and donate them back .

You should get some vertical storage ideas for inside the door for the wrapping paper, then its off the floor. You could also do the same for the wreaths in the back. Just a thought.

I think I would have tried to reshuffle/reorganize the tubs according to where the decor is used. Examples: outdoor decor, living room decor, basement decor, kitchen decor. Then when you get it out to decorate, you just bring the right totes to the places you need them. Maybe when she undecorates in January she can try it.

I'm exhausted just watching you! How long did that take? Good job! I have too much Christmas stuff, and need to downsize. When I look at all your mom's decorations, it just makes me feel tired, and definitely not like decorating. There's a lot of value in the shock impact of seeing it all out at once. You'll have to give us a tour of your mom's house once it's decorated. Your daughter's sweet little voice is adorable.

Maybe it's a little too late but when you put xmas stuff back in closet label each bin or box and tape list order in which stored in closet to door so you will know what and where of it all helps me ❤😊
