Hi Abby, if you scuff the wood a little with some sandpaper the stain would probably work better but a clear coat would also be needed. Also, I watch car detailing and when they clean the upholstery, they go over the seats several times until the water comes out clear. Those are gorgeous!! I hope you keep them!

I really liked seeing how you store stuff in your workspace, glad you included it. Dresser on casters attached to staging wall is pretty brilliant. On keeping things for your new house, ask yourself "Do I really want to pay to have someone move this for me when the time comes?" I've also learned that lots of things aren't cohesive enough to work in a new space.

Love what you are doing. File cabinets make great storage too, since they can handle lots of weight. People are throwing them away, I guess because everything is going digital. I installed casters and use them in my garage.
@heatherelias-tv7zp26 күн бұрын
Me too with the filing cabinets. Added casters & use to store saws, drills, furniture parts, paint, etc. I also use them to practice new painting techniques & color combos. Have a few cabinets that ended up with a super cool finish from layers & layers of paint. Very practical though.

Those chairs are so cool and a great color! Remind me of Z Gallery 80s/90s in Art Deco/Nouveau style (just be careful when selling - add the word “style” after Art Deco, as they aren’t authentically from that era). Love your channel & look forward to hearing about your success from the market!

Those chairs are a very specific mid-century modern design and will only appeal to a limited number of consumers but those buyers will pay big $ for those chairs. Not sure what your geographic area is but in NYC or San Francisco you’re looking at a minimum of $850. each.

I love what you did with that old tv cabinet. I see those cabinets on fbmp all the time and ppl can’t give them away. But if you flipped them and sold as pantry storage for a kitchen I think you could sell them. I had to pay someone $4,000 to build a custom pantry (floor to ceiling) with pull out shelves (which I love) but the maple wood was $$$$. Also your doom pile is not bad. Mine fills our 2 car garage. 😝 I call it the death pile which is more common term used. And it is all smalls.

I think your work area and staging rotating wall is genius. I have a flea booth you can consider that also. you can take your restored furniture and place it in the booth that gets lots of traffic. you can also put a bunch of stuff from your storage for sale at the booth. you only need to sell one thing per month to cover the cost of the rent.. you don't even need to be present the cashier handles it all for you. you just rent a booth at a flea market and let them do all the work.. you even advertise the same staging set up you do now on FB but you say they are available for purchase at booth #10 at such and such address and they go look at your furniture you don't have to be there. you probably know this idea. just sharing.. and you scored on those white chairs I can't believe people don't look things up before the list them for sale.. they must not be hurting for money..😊 I just wanted to say I did a slat wall in my kitchen using those furring strips. luckily none of them cracked using the brad nailer.. we sanded them down and they have the prettiest wood grain. Yes you have to sift to get straight boards but I'm in love with the wall at the furring strip price discount..

Keep the chairs if you like them. I am positive an interior decorator or antique dealer would pay thousands for those, especially because you have 2, as well as their design. You may find that when you are actually buying the house, next year or whenever, that they are worth even more than now. Do lots of research if that day comes.
@JupefiresАй бұрын
Have you ever painted upholstery? Might would have been an option for those 2 chairs you put out on the curb for free. Just a thought.

Years ago I was able to get a pair of mid-century modern chairs for $15 each. I used them, loved them, but then decided that I was getting tired of the color so I sold them (for 10x what I paid). Have regretted it since. Don't sell the special stuff. Also, if those chairs are a velvet, there's a great KZbin video called How To Clean Velvet Upholstery & Velvet Fabric | Satisfying Velvet Upholstery ... Visit. Not sure if that linked properly but use the title to find the guy. He has an accent. Was able to clean my velvet chairs beyond what I thought I could achieve!

I noticed that your storage unit does not appear to be climate controlled. Just wondering if the Florida heat and humidity cause you any storage issues. I’m in SW Florida and I have been afraid of going with non-climate controlled. Obviously I could save some money with non-climate controlled. As an aside, my wife and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to Savannah where you attended college, passing right by the Waldo Flea Market on the way, lol. 😊
@flippedbyabby11 күн бұрын
My storage unit is climate controlled! It has a vent at the top from the building on the other side. It’s not super cool in there but enough that it doesn’t mess up anything. I had one in SC for a year that wasn’t climate controlled and it was also fine though
