I love what you do. I worked for a very large corporate store then was purchased and even larger corporation. Before I was even a manager a lot got trashed. I followed the plan of action starting with discount items in our quarterly switch outs. The discounts would reach a point we were to trash the items. I was not happy with that. I would remove the items to be trashed, then broke the items into groups. The groups varied on the product. I would do the mothers home (women that were pregnant and going put them up for adoption or not a safe environment for being pregnant or had a baby) schools nursing homes and other places. The district manager love what I was doing and contacted all managers a new quarterly plan of action program. This went to all stores. The stores you do dives in make me sick knowing many intentionally break products in their trash so no one wants it. Hope you guys entice others. Great job and the truth of big stores is laid out so others can benefit from seeing your vlogs

It frustrates me that there is convenient store Corporate office here and they are popping up all over. They have grab and go sandwich’s and change them at a certain time, example they pull the breakfast sandwiches away to put the next type of sandwich’s out. Tried talking to the corporate office and got no where

Branded items often have to be destroyed as for the manufacture/ distributor not the store management.

@@andicastro1203 I have never heard that. My career which started at 16 working (school at 14) we had to turn away many orders due to copyright issues. My favorite one was a gentleman’s brochures he had so many different trademark and copyrighted logos. I was use to a couple logos but this man was easily displaying over 25 logos all computer rated. I asked if he had permission to use them. I asked if he had a letter from each company granting exemption he said yes I asked to see the letters with their stationary. I told him no way he got that many letters. He made a hasty exit with all of his stuff. We did have copyright forms to fill out basically letting know the they were bound legally and releasing us from legal action.

It's great that you scored big and awesome that you shared it with your fans. I know that you know to be extra careful with glass but wanted to share what happened to me a few days ago. I don't drop or break glass but I drop everything else in my life dozens of times. So this time I did break a glass and it shattered on my kitchen floor. My Father helped me clean it up, then we washed the floor right away because I have a sweet fur Baby and did not want any cut paws. My fur Baby is Mittens, a gorgeous Ragdoll. That night she got settled in her bed next to mine and I do a few exercises before I go to sleep. My head was next to hers and I looked at her to say nite nite....yes, I talk to my Mittens all the time. I saw this gleam on my sheet and thought, wow what is that? I carefully picked it up and put light on it. Now my area of the house is in the back of our building, opposite side from the kitchen, which is in the front of the house. I think you all know where I'm going in my story. There, in my hand, was a sliver of glass from the kitchen. Mittens had not been in the kitchen all day and we had checked everywhere to be sure all the glass had been cleaned up. I would not have been too happy for that sliver to wake me up during the night. You know the very old cliché, you can never be too careful! I hope Steph, that you will NOT find any shards or slivers of glass while using those sponges. Since you found them in the bag with all those glass particles, I hope you throw the bag and sponges away. It would be cheaper to get them new than to take a chance of marking your nice skin with scratches. Those scratches can form permanent scars and I just would not even try the sponges. I was a aesthetician for a number of years and saw what facial scarring can do to emotions and even personalities. Your skin is the largest and most important organ of your body. I hope this helps.

Tip for gluing any black or dark colored statue, plaster , etc that has a white clay ( inside base) . Before gluing use a sharpie type marker to stain or color the white clay broken area next to and the front of break. Then when glued together there is no white / light visible within the mend but the line blends in. A trick a potter friend taught me .

We can’t dumpster dive in our area. A lot of the dumpsters are in wooden fence type enclosures, and even though they’re not locked, they have signs prohibiting anyone from taking anything. I’ve always wondered why they care. If I put something out for trash, I HOPE somebody else that use it, takes it. I know they’d say it’s a safety liability issue, but that’s not it. A long time ago when I did dumpster dive sometimes, it just got too stressful trying to dodge being caught and of course now they have cameras everywhere. Soo, I enjoy watching y’all save som things from unnecessary waste. Steph, It does some kind times concern me that those particular gloves may not protect you from all that broken glass, but they seem to, so I’ll just tell the “mom” in me to shut up!🤪

The little shelves are so cute. For the ones that were broken you either cut a small thin piece of wood if you have something laying around or take some cardboard and double it and cover it with sticky shelf paper. Wow on the candles as well. Oh and the cups. I don’t know why big stores like that don’t do just what you did. It’s so frustrating at the waste.

Turn the single mirror tray into a wall shelf. Take mirror out. Repot the faux succulents you found, add it to the shelf with a battery powered candle, some wood beads...cute!!!

If you watch a previous video, don't quote me, I believe was just a couple weeks ago, Steve clearly states that you gotta grab and go so not to get caught. Not to spend more than 10 minutes. My daughter is a 4 year employee, and now manager for Dollar General store. Corporate says they must damage EVERYTHING before trashing it so ppl can't get it .which is crazy ,she told me last week the store she took over she found 27 bags of potting soil from last year in the back room . they had to cut them open and put in the trash bin. food now I get trashing that they open it and toss it if it's out of date. but dang the waste of perfectly good merchandise, donate it or give it to a shelter to use but they no longer do that. somethings get pennied out which they try not to let happen, other stuff sent back to distribution center, rest trashed. it's just sad. 😢

Great dive ! Love that you are so calm, go thru mostly everything! Here we have to go late night or really early mornings! Since I live in a village that just recently made the change to Town! We dont have it seems as many dumpsters or access to a major City the size of the ones in California. Lucky that members of my family reside out of state, therefore I get some strange (dumpsters) every other holiday.. thank you for what you guys do ! Please be aware- their not always alone, they tend to stalk you, an show up when you least expect it!! Had one recently mid afternoon jump a ditch an try to head for two toddlers in a plastic pool, sorry but I shot it before it finished crossing the ditch! Most of what you'll see in dumpsters is what they call truck damages where they mark it out and throw it out so I don't know if you'll find much stuff in one piece but you may keep digging!!!

All those broken ceramic pieces can be used as a mosaic in Steve's cement projects..

You can put the handles back on with Gorilla Glue. It holds within seconds. I had a mug handle broken in 3 or 4 pieces I glued the pieces together then back on the mug and presto all better. There was a lose knife in there!

When you went through the dumpster and found all of the broken dishes you should have taken them all because artists buy bags and bags of broken dishes for mosaic designs and making beautiful tables...pottery...and design tops of outdoor and patio tables. Just FYI...🥰

In North America we waste so much. Alot if this stuff found in the video could have been either sold at a discount or donated to a charity shop. But sorry there's gonna be a but! The mess that is created by alot of dumpster divers is not cool! That's why alot of dumpsters now have locks.
