You can store a handgun with a small magnet with double sticking tape under the desk. Works reliably and cheap. No racking under the desk possible though for those who need that feature.

Learn to not need self-validation of your own choices through the putting down of other people’s differing choices. There has never been a negligent discharge from a gun that doesn’t have a round in the chamber. It’s far more likely you will have a negligent discharge than need to use your gun for self-defense, statistically. For some people that is a perfectly acceptable trade off for risk mitigation purposes.

@NorthwoodsAmerican7 ай бұрын
I don’t believe this can be used with a dot optic at all. Not enough clearance between the optic and where the magnet attaches to the slide and under the desk table or whatever you’re attaching it to.
@MrBoriqua20007 ай бұрын
@NorthwoodsPiper i bought a different type that you can attach to the side. I put it on my bed for my glock, but now i put a red dot on it, and im not sure if the magnet will mess it up.

The ever present gate keeping gun owner. The probability of a negligent discharge is magnitudes higher than being in a defensive gun use situation. For many, including myself, that is a risk I like to reduce to zero. It’s a trade off I’m comfortable making. There has never been a negligent discharge of a firearm when a round wasn’t in the chamber. Let people weigh their own risks and do what this free country lets us do - make personal choices. Learn to avoid needing to feel self-validation of your own choices by putting down the alternative choices of others.

There has never, in the history of firearms, been a negligent discharge from a gun that doesn’t have a round in the chamber. Just because you don’t choose that method of risk mitigation doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It’s just not what you do. Do you want a cookie or do you want to be judgmental of personal choices in a country founded on personal choices?

@wiseinvestments5134 I'm talking who have been hurt or killed because they carried a firearm without a rd in the chamber. People think they are John Wick or a MOAD agent,but in reality you will not have time to draw your handgun,chamber a round while trying to fight of 1,2 or more attacks when you less expect it. I personally have been involved in many deadly force situations during deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan,as well as in my civilian job. I chose to take the risk of carrying my firearms with a rd in the chamber,as far a NDs are concerned, I'll make the argument that there is a possibility chance of having a ND can happen when carrying without a rd in the chamber under a stressful situation. It's not my funnel,so carry how you want.👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
@wiseinvestments51347 ай бұрын
@@Eric-ty1yi well I never claimed no one has ever been hurt because they didn’t have a round chambered. I’m saying there are magnitudes more people hurt by negligent discharges than by incidents you mention - and that without a round in the chamber one cannot have a negligent discharge. No round in the chamber is a risk mitigation tactic that eliminates a much larger statistical risk (death or injury of an innocent person from ND) and leaves a smaller statistical risk (being in a self defense shooting in the first place and also not having time to chamber a round). From a mathematical point of view, there are two risks: Need a round chambered and negligent discharge. The latter is a much higher statistic, meaning it’s a valid mathematical decision to eliminate the larger of those two risks. Also, you’re discussing military situations which are very different statistical risk than civilian life. Of course I would recommend a military person in a war zone carry with a round in the chamber because for that situation, the two risks I discussed are inversed. In a war zone, the risk of not having time to chamber is higher than the risk of a negligent discharge. I’m talking about civilians who carry in non war zone United States territories. And I absolutely disagree with your implication that a ND can occur without a round in the chamber. That’s physically impossible. Can a ND occur after you rack the slide? Yes. That’s because there is now a round in the chamber.
