I have been living in Thailand for more than 30 years. There are two kinds of Thai iced tea: 1. Thai iced tea with sugar but without milk - the color is brown and orange. They call it black iced tea. 2. Thai iced tea with sweet condensed milk and sugar, and topped with concentrated milk. They call it iced tea. The well-known Thai tea product is Cha tra Mue which you can notice the Trumbup logo. It is a mixture of many tea leaves from many countries. I am not sure about the artificial color. The way Thai people make Thai tea is different. They pour boiling water into a big filter bag with is filled with 4 cups of tea leaves and let the liquid fall into a container 2 or 3 times. The height is about 50-80 centimeters. This is the key thing to reduce temperature and let it touch the air and use gravity to mix it on the way through. I have tried that; the taste is better. Once they get the hot tea liquid, they mix the ingredients immediately before pouring it into a cup with ice flakes, not ice cubes.

This video is amazing and with your video it’s helped me so much in perfecting this recipe to the distinct style of a restaurant! Save $7 every glass! (I add cardamom, allspice, ground ginger, cinnamon, two assam tea bags, Dixie sugar, cloves, pure orange extract, raw honey, vanilla extract, sweetened condensed milk, tiny amount of heavy cream for effect, filled with mostly ice, and bar glasses with boba bamboo straws) Much Appreciated 👍 Any suggestions of what you can add to tweak in this? They’ve been great party favors as it made so many batches when you double it all! I let it brew 4 hours , and strain it into these glass milk pitchers, then refrigerate for the night so flavors enhance.

Oohh this is excellent, I've really been wanting to make this! I think the vanilla-y flavour might be pandan, but I can't 100% be sure 💗💗💗

Looks delicious! I'll go with the natural version and not buy the bagged....I was not happy about the warning label on the back of the package.

Pantai is excellent quality. It's frustrating because I live in Dallas and it's sold out everywhere. I usually stock up on trips to H-Mart, but they've been sold out for ages.

I was about to go the easy route and buy the Pantai Norasingh Thai Tea Mix until she mentioned food coloring, and... it reflected Yellow #6! which is a toxic chemical sulfonated form of Sudan I. This poisonous substance was one of the original petroleum azo compound dyes developed in the late 19th century during the European textile boom. Sudan 1 is classified as a level three carcinogen, meaning that it caused cancerous tumors in lab animals... so I guess I have to do it the hard way. 😥

everyone has a different comfort level when it comes to food dyes! we definitely understand your reservations! That said, we think you'll enjoy the homemade version too and it's not too difficult!

What strainer do you use?

We just use fine meshed strainers that you can find at standard restaurant supply. Nothing fancy!
