I am Iranian living abroad and attending couple of ted talks here. It was always my dream to come back to Iran and try to arrange a gathering just like ted talk as I was always so inspired by. So happy that the dream came true and wish the community of Ted Talks in Iran all the amazing achievements and may the horizon be bright. Eyval be hamatun.

Good for you Gilda. I am proud of you wanting to know more about the culture & heritage your parents were brought up in. Not only you speak the language well, you took it one step farther & experienced living and deeper meaning of being Iranian. good talk .

This is great; to hear an educated woman speaks well of Iran even though she grew up in the U.S. I myself travel to Iran frequently and am always amazed at the incredible depth of the Iranian people and culture. Sad to see so many ex-pats endlessly demonizing Iran. They clearly do not appreciate the nation and the culture they claim they came from. All they think is politics, the politics of hate and cynicism.

She is lovely , she grew up in US she is sharing her life story, just take a chill pill and support her and other expat iranian who go back to bring some fun into Mullah dominated boring lives. She is great and 100% with her. I forgot Iranians are critical of everything and anyone but never themselves.

I liked it, it was fascinating story of Iran, it was hilariously true story of Iranian Culture that westerner never going to understand it, therefore no one in the west or those who are westernized, liberalized in political manner not in religious way, cannot understand when a man who speeks three languages but lives in rural area openly says, "Picture for what??" really those who are sitting in the audience, they did not understand this speech, they laughed when they really shouldn't and they were dead silence when they should have had applauded this fantastic woman. Gilda, thank you... you described Iranian culture in 15 Minutes

Being negative isn't the way. I will LOVE to watch this when it has English subtitles. Also, without knowing the words, I think Persian sounds really beautiful and I love it! Though in this case, the format of a "lecture" makes it lose a lot of the fabulous melodic quality it has when it is more free-flowing. Also, considering her background, how do You native speaking Persians feel about her speech (tone, cadence, flow etc, not content).

Congratulations to you. You are a fresh air in the midst of large numbers of either arrogant or insecure Iranians inside and outside of the country. I can relate to you - though I'm older than you, a mother, researcher, professional, worldly, down to earth and love to make contacts and hear ppl's stories. What is very attractive about you, apart than your looks, is your innocence. I'm not in social media scene by choice, except Skype. And I use You Tube for my research re natural medicine. خدا حافظ و نگهدارت باشه.

I live in New York, traveled to Tehran to meet some old friends. They all insisted that I check out TEDx Tehran. I'd give the event a solid 1/10, Gazor's speech was so cliche and by far the most ridiculous of all... the entire crowd was joking about her during and after the talk. I'm surprised she didn't get booed off the stage. "give it away" baby!
@romillyh
@romillyh 8 жыл бұрын
+viralvirus1 Why so harsh? Doubtless over the next few years her journey of "self discovery" will take her deeper, maybe much deeper, than joking about how funny Iran was to begin with and touristy stuff like talking to flower sellers and the Hormuz "hippy". And booed off the stage? Didn't look as though it came anywhere near. Give the girl a chance ... and don't expect too much from TED talks in the first place! :-)

inspiration? who's gonna be inspired by her? only kids that couldn't integrate into western societies and came back to Iran to gain some fame and attention. the only reason people came to the show was because of TEDx not her. I'm sure the audience didn't even have a clue who she was. Unfortunately TEDx is not professional like TED and can be organized by anyone.

@Azadeh Zahedi --> by all due respect, I believe your words are too much on the critical side! Your feedback is unfortunately not constructive. We are all human beings, non of us is perfect; we are not here with an obligation to inspire other people. Giving room to each other and accept each other as we are, allows for more peace and happiness among each other. I don't expect from anyone that they are obliged to inspire me, not even from my own self. Life is already difficult, let's not make it more difficult. Thanks.
