Thank you for this great presentation. I was in the US Army 1977-1981. I was a Sunday Catholic back then and not living according to God’s will. About 12 years ago my heart began to change through 2 12 Step programs. Today I am so happy and grateful to God for His presence in my life. God bless you and all the military chaplains, Catholic and otherwise who serve the troops so well. Be bold, be Catholic! 😊

Truly a model of bravery and courage for giving oneself to serve the country and to protect lives in times of war. Thank you Fr. Mathew for sharing and giving this talk on Catholic chaplains, which is very fitting for today’s feast day of St . Martin of Tours. Prayers for you Fr. Mathew. Thank you to the technological assistance of Brother Mark.

This is a good one for today. As a Veteran thank you. I was in the RCIA process when I got activated for my 1st. Deployment. And Major/Monsignor Donahu was the Millitary Chaplin that brought me into full comunion with the Church while we where in Kuwait waiting to head into Iraq. Millitary Catholic Chaplins are able to get special Dispositions From the Millitary Bishop to do all of this for just such occasions. Due to the life threatening nature of deploying to combat zones. I remember my second Deployment I was at a collation base we had a Battalion of guys there from the El Salvadorion Army They had a Catholic Preist with them I barely understand a word he was saying but they where beutiful Masses

For Father Brennan who knew my husband in South America and then baptized him in Warrenton. Mo. Twenty years later! He told me the truth is easy to live with...when I asked him why it didn't bother my husband that groups were saying he was a poser by saying he was never in the army special forces. Thank you Fr. BRENNAN military Chaplin in the 80s...we will always remember you as a man who loved chocolate chip cookies! God's Love, Mary

There’s so much joy in our hearts, Fr. Matthew, upon listening to you following your holy inspiration that of becoming a military chaplain of the Marine. You truly felt the need of the salvation of their souls being deprived of the sacraments of confession, holy communion and the Eucharistic celebration. Thank you so much, Fr. Matthew, praying for you and your future flock that will be given to you, under your loving spiritual care. Happy Veterans Day! My father was also a veteran who fought in WW II. God bless everyone.

I recently shared this presentation with Father Quinn who is an 87 year old retired Air Force Chaplain. It was actually on Wednesday, the feast of Saint Albert the Great and when I was telling him how smart you are Father Matthew his comment was well. “He probably had a wonderful teacher like Saint Albertus Magnus”.

There is a beautiful stain-glass window of those four Chaplains at Maxwell AFB Chapel 2. I looked at it many times growing up as my father was stationed at Maxwell. It took me years to find the story of those brave men of God. Thank you for mentioning their story.

Thanks. I was blessed to do a Fr Kapaun pilgrimage, attend mass at his boyhood parish, as a parishioner. It’s still a beautiful farm community with solid catholic values! I was also in Desert Storm and was able to attend Mass once the whole time I was there, in the dessert- in the middle on nowhere. With many others. Thank you for this talk, a reminder of the value of chaplains in the military!
