I think it might be a good idea when you are upset, even if you know it's going to pass quickly, to vocalize your feelings to your friends/family. You could just quickly say "I'm in a bad/sad/weird mood right now" but explain that you don't want to dwell on it, just let them know so they aren't wondering what's going on with you. I think it's healthier to share how you feel rather than keeping it all in!

The text message thing is so true. One of my best friends lives in New York City but I'm way up in Massachusetts, and we literally have a long standing gif war going on. Any time anything important or funny happens I text him first as well because it makes me feel more connected to him. He's a drag queen too, so we often drunk facetime in the wee hours on the weekends. It's the silly stuff like that keeping us close.
