That’s cool, but also looks expensive. Comparing to the analogy is is cheaper to turn lights on and off when you enter and exit the room, at home maybe, at work, it depends how much you pay the workers and how many switches they have to press. Would the cost of repairing the cranes and dealing with the occasional disastrous blocks falling really save money over less efficient methods of storing energy or simply losing energy at plants that let the heat vent because the grid doesn’t need power?

Is it more efficient or cheaper than pumping a fluid to a tank or compressing air and storing it and making electricity with a turbine at night?
