There are so few foot passengers now compared to years ago. Rosslare Harbour has completely changed to the way it used to be. The Ferry used to dock right at the railway station and it was literally about 50 metres to walk on. Now the railway track is away from the ferry terminal so there is a lot of walking. Plus the fact that since Brexit the expansion of Rosslare is amazing. There are now around 40 ferries a week to the European Mainland where as there used to be only 3 a week. Due to the increased red tape caused by Brexit companies by pass the UK landbridge to Europe. Years ago all the train schedules were in sync with the ferry you could get a direct train from London to Fishguard twice a day and the ship would be waiting right there to board. Literally thousands of foot passengers every week used to use the ferries years ago and the railway transport was so good back then. It's the same story with Holyhead where you have to be driven on to the ship where as the ferry used to dock at the railway station for a short hop on, plus they done away with Dun Laoghaire where once the ferry docked you could walk up Marine Road and be in a pub in two minutes. Now all the ferries go to Dublin Port which is a soulless place so grim compared to Dun Laoghaire. Sadly the foot passengers are not really catered for as they used to be and going by ferry now is just a real pain. Good vid man.

Thanks for the comment! Think the biggest issue is low cost airlines, Ryanair’s success has to come at someone’s expense and that’s foot passengers on ferries. Ferry companies will do well just with freight but really think joined up transport planning is so crucial! Why have Rosslare Harbour train station at all if the train doesn’t link with the ferries?!

This is my favourite ship from my childhood, i'm 16 now... MS Star was Tallink's best or one of the best ships. So lovely to see it serving Ireland now. I have so many good experiences traveling between Helsinki and Tallinn with it. Seeing those staircases, etc is so nostalgic 😅

It’s a great ship and happy to see it move to the Dublin to Holyhead route this month where it’ll be appreciated massive upgrade over the MV Epsilon it’s replacing! Tallink Silja Line have some great ships! 🚢

@@craig.bryant i would say that in terms of amenities onboard Oscar Wilde, that's the baseline here in the Baltic Sea. Especially between Sweden and Finland/Estonia. Most of the ferries offer live music entertainment, casinos, Spa and Wellness areas, fine dining and shopping. :)

As it should be, just makes so much sense avoiding another queue on board!
