Anyway, Just Lindsay Collins who got up to play the ball looking like he was in a car accident and suffered a brain injury. I think Nelson should have been sent-off as well as facing the judiciary. The importance of that game (possibly the second most important game of a teams season) and Lindsay Collins does not get to play a full 80min because of a cheap shot. Also, Gordon fails to mention and realize that this is not the first time Nelson has been before the judiciary for the exact same offence on many other players on many different occasions. Then to rub salt, insult and disrespect into Lindsay Collins wounds , Gordon has the gall to say that Nelson should not miss the Grand Final because we all want to see the big names play. Not true. JWH hit Verrills and got a 3 week suspension with a sin bin. Verrills played the rest of the game with no problem and it was so insignificant that the bunker had to call it back several tackles later because the ref missed it.

Suspending guys after the event, even sin-binning them at the time, is doing nothing to stop concussions occurring. Rule changes are the only thing that might reduce the number of concussions in the game but you won’t see the NRL do anything along those lines until they’re made to.

If Nelson wasn't a repeat offender, he may have been given a lighter penalty. But how many times does he need to use Grubby Play taking key players out before he is penalised appropriately? What, wait until someone gets a broken jaw or brain damage? It is a hard game created back before the physical consequences have been understood. But when you know better, you should do better. The NRL have a duty of care to all players. Playing NRL is only a short time in a players life. It shouldn't cause them a disability for the rest of it. If Nelson doesn't have the ability to adjust his style to safe play as all other players have, then maybe he shouldn't play.
