i would try to get as much of that fallen wood the council is dealing with onto your property so that you have free wood for years to come, looking forward to video footage of it all and glad your ok. my new plastic green house has survived several storms, which my old one didnt do...this time i brought thicker nylon ropes(from home base quite cheap i think was 8mm thick) which i placed over the greenhouse about 4 to 5 spaces and attached by tying them to concrete blocks and heavy poles i found lying around in rubbish. another storm due next week...ugh its the season for sure.....

I just got done watching the news about the storm and was going to message you. So grateful that you and Mike and the dogs are OK! Thanks for putting out this video sharing news about the event. My second thought after seeing the video and hearing you were OK was, “well, at least they won’t need to buy wood for next year’s heating.“ really, with all the carnage you’ve got to look for the silver lining. Dear Jane and Mike: I was very glad that you and your fur-babies weathered the storm in good shape. What came to mind was the thickness and insulation of your walls. It may have seemed and extravagance at the time but well worth the non-damage today. Also commendable is your sense of community reaching out to your neighbors. It is good you are okay. I have a really study home. Having a generator is really saving you and yours. We have been numerous tornadoes and one hurricane. Our winds are strong in the US midwest. Greenhouse have to been solid or they do not last.

Glad the house and you guys are ok, that’s the main thing. Clean up can take time. The most wind speed I have experienced is 60 mph. That treated our roof like a blanket you would taken the corner and whipped up and back down. Had to get a new roof. Power was out for a week. Same year winter time now big ice storm, power out for a week again. We now have made precautions. Our house was total electric. We bought a gas fire place, a generator. So far nothing else but you never know! Be safe ❤

I am wondering if you experienced a rare component of a storm called a Straight Line Wind. We had one here a few years ago and it completely devastated the trees in its path. It was accompanying a regular storm. Glad you two and you dogs are fine.

Hi Jane and Mike. So glad to hear that you're both safe and well. Those winds must have been terrifying. I can remember a storm we had up here a few years ago and each gust felt like it was lifting the house from underneath. I felt sick at the time. Anyway, at least your home has survived without too much damage. The fact it lifted trees from the roots says it all. I've never experienced a storm of the force you describe and hope I never will. 🙏 Yes, being prepared as you are will have made such a difference. So nice what you're doing for the community as well. They're lucky to have you. Hope all goes well in the coming days. 🤗

Glad you're OK, you got it worse than we did over the east side of 22, just a few trees down and lots of litter. Our power was out most of Thursday, and we're all electric, cooking, heating, everything, even the pellet burner needs it for the fan. We went for a long walk, looked in on friends and neighbours, and begged hot water flasks from the pub, since they've got bottled gas (no mains here), otherwise we just lived on cereal, fruit juice and cheese sandwiches! In fact the outage was very local, we knew they had power in some surrounding communes. One of the most annoying things was the electric roller blind on the French windows being stuck down - I think most of the neighbours have all electric blinds and had to sit totally in the dark! By mid-afternoon we got fed up, drove out to Decathlon and bought the last display model small camping stove, and got quite excited at the prospect of making tea, cooking curry and boiling our breakfast eggs on it, so it was almost disappointing when we got home to find the power back on! I'm sure it won't be the last time we'll need it though. Just looking at the images from Jersey, horrific.

Sounds like Hurricane Fiona from September 2022 here in Cape Breton,NS. Power was out for a week and the phone and internet was out for two weeks. Some people are still cleaning up from that storm.

When I heard that the storm was going to hit northwest France, I thought of you right away. I live in Florida and have been through many hurricanes and tropical storms but thankfully my area has not had a direct hit in my lifetime. Take care.

I feel for you, we live in NW Florida and have gone through many hurricanes. However we at least get some notice so we can prepare. It is wonderful how everyone pulls together and helps each other. We had family here from the UK when Hurricane Erin came through and Howe had to cook up a lot of meat so we had a huge BBQ. Cooked bacon and eggs BBQ grill. Find memories. I’m glad you guys are ok .

I live on the east coast of Georgia in the States so we can get hurricanes here, not as much as when I lived in Florida, but have had some. It seems these storms always hit at night when u can't see whats going on, n with the winds blowing it does make it a lot more scarier. When I lived in Florida the last hurricanes I got hit with was 2004 when Hurricane Francis knocked power out for 3 weeks, only to have another hurricane Jeanne come days later n knocked power out again for a week. So glad ya'll are OK, property n things can be replaced ur lives can't. I will keep u in my prayers

Happy to hear and see that you are OK. In Afrikaans we would say "vasbyt". Directly translated it means bite tight or grit your teeth. It is a saying to encourage someone to hold on, hang in there, stand fast. See this as another adventure (albeit one you would rather not have). 🤞🤞🤞
