I was on the Finnair flight. From inside the aeroplane it was absolutely sh*t scary - and I've landed maybe over a hundred times at MAN with Finnair. I'll re-live in my mind for a long time the speed of approach being a lot faster than normal, the touchdown getting late and praying for that wing not to touch the ground. I don't know if the pilot was skilled, liucky, cocky or reckless. Watching this recorded live stream helps with understanding what it was like overall. Many, many thanks!!!

Great coverage. As regards your comment about Saudia pilots and their great landings, a big factor is almost certainly that you're seeing them in 787s, which are all equipped with HUDs. The HUD's inertial flight path and energy trend information helps keep the pilot from getting "behind" in their control inputs. In other words, HUDs are a massive aid in conditions like this.

Excellent show boys, and for braving these bad conditions, and also for Simon on the other side. Seems a lot of the go around's were wind-sheer induced as when the approach was aborted standard wind-sheer procedure is to leave the gear down and no flap retraction and this is what most were doing.
