Hi John Thank you so much for your message. Aye, winter is really fast approaching 🙈 hate this time of year myself. We always seem to be on high alert and always weather watching. At least you know your boats nice and safe and sound over the winter period. 😁👌 You are definitely right about the ropes, especially when the weais to take a nasty turn.🙈😬😬😬 Hope you have a great weekend. Loved the storm coverage, you mentioned the over fishing at Dunbar at the start, the selling of the older fishing boats is a good thing.
@onemanandhisboat16 күн бұрын
Thank you. You would think that would be a good thing with vessels getting sold, but the other ( more profitable boats) are just buying up the gear, so we have less boats working the grounds but just the same amount of gear working on them.😞 That's what our government should have started with for conservation, gear limitation!.😁👌 Thank you for your kind comment. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. All the best. Baz.😉👍

Take my hat off to you Barry you've a heart of gold, how did Steve get on rescuing his yacht? If only the kindness of the fishing fraternity could spread out amongst the other citizens of this land, then maybe this would be a better country to live in! Ever considered becoming a croft farmer??? 🙂
@onemanandhisboat16 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind comment.😍😁👌 If most folks we're less selfish, we would have a fantastic country to live in, but alas, greed and power rule these lands🙄🙈🤬 I think the croft farmers are getting eaten up by the bigger farms bud exactly the same as the fishing..the government will not support crofters as their is no money to be made from them.😞 Hope you have a wonderful weekend. All the best. Baz.😉👍

You're a wee bit younger than me Barry, talking of the weather coming earlier and earlier. '60s into '70s when I grew up, the worst months were Nov, Dec and Jan. For me its going back to normal! It runs in cylcles.

You maybe right, with only 50 years on this planet, I haven't had the pleasure of knowing the weather back in those days, but I have heard the guys of old talking about it, and they are saying they've never seen nothing like the storms we've had over the last few years.🤷♂️🙈 and they've been here 80 plus years. So someone is right🤣🤣🤣😁👌 I think it depends on the area these days.🤷♂️ Let's hope the worst is passed and we can have a calmer winter this year🤞🙏😁👌 Thank you so much for your comment. Well Barry another interesting vlog! Our weather has definitely gotten stormer this past year and for you inshore fishermen makes it all that bit harder to earn a crust. So your fishing over winter this year! What is the catch rate in winter compared to summer? As always I wish you safe and successful fishing
@onemanandhisboat16 күн бұрын
Hi Peter.. Thank you so much for your kind comment. These last few years have been terrible weather wise. I'm hoping we'll get a break from it this year, but I'll be weather watching very closely to keep an eye on everything 🙈🌬🌊🌊🌊🤣🤣🤣 Yeah, catch rate drops significantly but the prices are at the highest coming into now until Xmas, so it's not as hard to earn a wage...Well that's if you can get out between the storms🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you so much. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. All the very best. Baz.😉👍

Well done for rescuing that boat, in those winds he could have lost it, good job mate. Nice to see soo many clean crills/pots, some of the guys around here have pots that look like a big lump of weed on the end of a rope sometimes, but then there's the old argument ........do old and unclean pots catch more, some think they do.
@onemanandhisboat16 күн бұрын
Hi bud. As always, thank you so much for your kind comment. 😍😁👌 Aye, that's a thing that goes around here as well with the state of the pots, some guys do, and some gets don't. It's all personal preference. I know one thing, our pots fish far better after a good clean down.😉👍 And at the end of the day, it's all about bringing they beautiful lobbies over the rail.🦞🦞🦞🦞😍😁👌 Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Barry Was or is there any of the wild salmon traps on your coast ,, In my opinion the best way to catch salmon not to mention the best quality.
@onemanandhisboat4 күн бұрын
Hi Sean. Unfortunately, salmon fishing was stopped by our corrupt government long ago. The government is more concerned about seals than a salmon fishery, just to keep the greenies happy. Now their are 100's of thousands of seals, and definitely still no salmon. The government said it was fishermen who was catching all of the salmon, i dont know how they figure that out, since that fishery was stopped over 10 years ago, and it was only a few coastal boys that were allowed to catch salmon at that time. 🙄🙈 Like all fishing in the UK, it's all badly managed. All the best. Baz.😉👍

Hi Max. Yeah, it's a shame what's happening to a once great industry. It actually breaks my heart to remember the vibrant fishing harbour and harbours up and down the length of this country, all gone now, thanks to greedy governments.🤬🤬🤬🤬 But, we must soldier on!💪🦞🦞🦞🦞😁👌 Hope you have a wonderful weekend. All the best. Baz.😉👍

@onemanandhisboat I know exactly where you're coming from bud, I'm 56 now and worked on the pots in Portsmouth when I was in my late teens and we'd go mid channel for a week on week off basis and , Absolute great times, I think I was earning more then than I do today, If the weather turned a bit nasty we'd motor into France and swap the odd lobster or two for free beer lol, After I left the boat my younger brother took my place but sadly after a few months he got the string wrapped around his foot and went down about 100ft before he managed to remove his boot! He also smashed his knee on the way over, That was the last time he went to sea, Anyway thanks for the reply bud, and I look forward too you're future posts, stay safe out there, Cheers Max 👍

That Not a good example where your life jacket
@onemanandhisboat17 күн бұрын
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you so much for your comment, Colin. Where in the description did I ever say this was a good example? Let me ask you this. If this was your boat and it was getting beaten up on the rocks, would you want me to toodle on back to my van to pick up my life jacket, then 15 mins later get back to your now well beaten up boat to save it?????? I think everyone who reads this comment will quite agree with me in saying that's not what you would wish me to do.🤔 I've been dealing with boats since I was a boy, I know how they work, move, and react, and I know I was going to be safe, because I know what I'm doing. However, I get your point about safety 1st and showing this type of content, but it was a case of what to do best in the situation I was given. If you and other negative commentors want to hang me up to dry, then go right ahead, I have big shoulders, and I'm positive given the same situation, anyone with heart would have done the same. Have a great weekend. All the best. Baz.😉👍
