Hey JR! Try changing your thumb pitch to 1/4 back and an 1/8 towards the palm. That will solve your issue ..

JR, I have a thought about why the thumb comes off easier with the fingers spread. I believe that when the pinky is close to the ring finger, the palm is flatter on the ball, causing more angulation of the thumb. When the pinky is spread, the pinky side (ulnar side) of the palm is off the ball, and the thumb angle decreases, sort of "pre-releasing" the ball. To test this idea, keep the pinky close to the ring finger, but purposely tilt the palm to keep the ulnar side off the ball. If it still comes out easier, the thumb-to-palm angle is the difference. I think the old Don Carter glove had a pad on the ulnar (hypothenar) side, producing the same effect. Storm sells a similar item as the Power Glove Plus.

the reason for it forces u to come under the ball more creating more revs but more control cause it intern makes it straighter in away more up the back of ball

So are you adding this ball to your arsenal or is it replacing something in your arsenal (if so, which ball)?

Draw a line through the thumbhole up toward the fingers on the oval angle. I'm guessing that this line will intersect the spread pinky. ie: the spread pinky and thumb are working efficiently together to grip the ball, thus reducing grip pressure on the thumb.

Im currently throwing a Brunswick vapor zone hybrid (i know its old). Looking into the summit or the mindset...thughts? I throw a draw and low rev. Asymmetrical vs symmetrical?

That’s funny. I’ve notice the same thing when I have my fingers spread. Much better release, more revs and overall better ball roll. I am going to try tilted my fingers toward my left leg to see if I get more pop

Oddly enough J.R, I started putting my pinky closer in after I saw your video about finger position and I am the opposite of you. The ball comes off my thumb smoother with my pinky closer.

Just be careful spreading the pinky too far too often. That was my go-to hands position for years, and now I deal with regular strains where the pinky and wrist meet. Lately I've resorted to the pinky tuck as it takes all the pressure off of that side of the hand, and keeps me alive in 8 game blocks. 😅

your intro is in need of some serious updating...bowling is dying... prize money is down... integrity of bowling lanes are down... usbc as an organization is a shell of what it once was... string pins are moving in to cut costs... manufacturers are treating equipment like iphones... get the next best thing... that's not much better than what you already had... with different colors. New Bowling Balls do not make the game FRESH... more tournaments and marketing would make this game fresh... holding lanes to account for garbage maintenance of lanes for USBC sanctioned events...and more. Bowling as a sport is dying because the Lanes charged with maintaining the integrity of the sport... don't maintain the integrity of the sport. They treat the sport like a Putt-Putt Golf and Games... if you look at the charts... bowling has been on the decline for over 2 decades.

The decline in league bowling coincided EXACTLY with the decline in manufacturing in the United States. What has created a resurgence in bowling is that most high schools in a lot of states now have bowling teams. We didn't have those in the 80s. A lot more colleges have bowling teams now. The tournaments I have been going to in Ohio are seeing huge increases in the number of bowlers. Bowling has been popular for 125 years. It isn't going anywhere.

@@ripvanrevs sponsorships and tv deals are mostly dead... major money is gone and the average pro bowler... makes less than a McDonalds Fryer Cook. Im sorry... Its long been dead and its now being slowing choked out by the USBC through inaction and deflection.

@@therealhonestraider7921 You cant be that dumb. The "average pro bowler" should make average money. Since the introduction of two handed bowling; bowling is increasing in popularity again. Go to your local youth leagues and see how many kids are throwing it two handed. Belmonte basically did for bowling what Tiger did for golf which is made the sport cool again. The PBA has gone from weird time slots on ESPN to making prime time appearances on FS1. Lastly, how can you say that money is about dead as Kyle and EJ just completed two of the most prolific seasons in PBA history recently?
