They are actually Scout Troopers. That's a different branch or faction of troopers, just like Death Troopers at the other end of the scale. Storm Troopers are like the middle-of-the-road standard (non-specialized) general purpose troopers.

Lore Dump: The Dark Saber is a one of a kind lightsaber made by the first and only Mandalorian jedi around 1000 years BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin). Once he passed the Jedi kept the weapon, and the Mandalorians didn't like that too much. The Mandalorians then laid siege to the Jedi temple and recovered it. Since then it has been in the possession of whoever is in charge of the Mandalorian people (also known as the Mandalore). You see this saber in Rebels and the Clone Wars series. needless to say this is a weapon of incredible importance and we still do not know how Moff Gideon got it.

I've loved watching your reactions to this whole first season, ladies! I'm also watching your *Breaking Bad* reactions. I have a lot of random thoughts about *The Mandalorian* : Deborah Chow -- who directed 2 of the great episodes in this first season -- has said that this show, in its most basic storyline, is about a man who has been following a way of life, and that life is upended by the introduction of the baby, because the baby "changes his life." Suddenly Mando is "reevaluating his priorities and what means something to him, both in his life and in the world." She said it's about a "man discovering something about himself that he had never known until he met the Child." So their relationship is the heartbeat of the show. I know that some viewers had different ideas of what the show would be, but no one knew there was a Baby Yoda in it before Episode 1. The baby made all the difference in the direction of the story. Along those lines... In my opinion, I think that Mando and the Child have been father and son this whole season. The Armorer only made it "official" in this final episode by telling Mando that he is the baby's father (for now). My interpretation has always been that their relationship is essentially the whole purpose of the show. I mean, sure, the action and fight scenes are fun, and they help illustrate that Mando is willing to risk his life for the Child, and that the Child will step up and protect him too. The different characters, villains and planets are fun as well. But at the center of the show is Mando/Din changing because of the Child. From the moment they saw each other and touched fingers in Episode 1, Mando wanted to keep the Child safe, and the Child wanted to be right by his side. Mando would stay detached and try to not bond with him, or he would leave him alone, or he would pass him off to other people to watch, so he was definitely making mistakes along the way -- but he was always protecting the Child as though he was a father taking care of his son. When the Child waddled up to Mando and hugged his leg, he looked up at his daddy with love and adoration, and I think Mando knew that he had to start actually being a dad in all ways instead of just wandering off or telling other people to watch the baby on a moment's notice. He'll get better with his parenting skills. My heart wants Mando and the Child to stay together, but, logically, my brain doesn't think that will happen. I think they will have to separate sooner rather than later, as someone else takes the Child and trains him in the ways of the Force, and Mando goes on to live his life in a less dangerous, less violent way (maybe on Sorgan with the krill farmers??). When Mando flies off with the Child peering over his shoulder, it is a sweet callback to the scene of young Mando peering over the shoulder of the Mandalorian who saved him after his parents were killed. I suspect that we will see Mando/Din's face again in Season 2 -- probably even more than once. Pedro Pascal didn't have the same work obligations during the filming of Season 2 as he had during the filming of Season 1. I think he has been in town almost the whole time Season 2 has been filming, and I'm going to guess that he was on the set more often this time. Unless there is a delay of some sort, Season 2 begins in October this year. Apparently Season 2 wrapped up filming 2 days ago. Bob Iger also said that there would be more Mandalorian after Season 2, including the possibility of "infusing" more characters into the show, and taking those added characters in their own direction in terms of series (possible spin-offs?). There is also a rumor that Disney wants *The Mandalorian* to have a total of 5 seasons, which means, if the premiere schedule stays the same, *The Mandalorian* could possibly be around for another 3 or 4 years.

the sword Gideon has at the end is called the Dark Saber. it's history is learned within episodes of Clone Wars and Rebels. It was made by a Mandaloreon who was also a Jedi.

The two scout troopers who have the child are played by two comedians Jason Sadakis is one of them. They are terrible shots just like storm troopers. The only troopers who have good aim are the death troopers who lined up in front of the window who are in all black. Mando was told the Jedi and the Mandalorian were enemies long ago but the black light saber you saw that Mof Gideon used to cut himself free from his ship was made by the only Mandarin Jedi from long ago. It is now regarded as the sacred weapon held by the ruler of all the Mandarin clans. We can only assume that Mof Gideon took it during the great purge and no one knows it's been taken. I enjoyed your mandalorian reactions and hope to see you in the fall when season two is scheduled to begin!

Moff Gideon survived the crash cause lately they’ve been veering away from the original movie’s idea of ships just automatically exploding from any type impact, causing instant death. Although you could assume that since Gideon has a special rank, he doesn’t fly a standard TIE fighter without shields.

My personal speculation- they’ve discovered within all Force users who they’ve tested an equivalent of a genetic anomaly which they hypothesize is what makes someone potentially Force sensitive- so they’re attempting to either duplicate or extract the “gene” from Baby Yoda to weaponize it and/or implant it within a potential leader [ie Moff Gideon]. Perhaps Moff Gideon possesses a low amount of Force capabilities and is trying to boost that as he believes that a new strong leader for the recently fallen Empire is needed.

this episode is why you should have waited to watch this after Clone Wars and Rebels...the lightsaber sword thing os the Darksaber, and it's a major plot point in both of those shows...in fact, you could argue that the Darksaber is the 'star' of the Star Wars TV shows, because they basically show the story of that artifact and how it changes hands and effects major wars in different eras. the end scene in this episode was a huge moment, but unfortunately you can't get the full effect of it if you haven't watched Clone Wars and Rebels
