I feel like the Gryph-Stalker should have some kind of ability. Like a movment thing or somthing to represent the "Gryph-stalker mounts can mark people for death, draining their life force and transferring it to their rider in an act unsettlingly akin to necromantic hexes"

I'm so excited for this launch. As someone brand new to AoS ( i played 2 games in 3rd with OBR and did not like it, so I wrote it off ), I am so excited for all of this. The models look incredible and the game looks like it is going to be amazing. AoS has a convert for 40k at this point!! Also, you are killing it with the content! By far the best AoS content I've found to date. Keep it up!

Terminos in fighting is not as bad as he seems because yes, he is slow but the one thing you see on every other hero in 3rd ed is 5 attacks, 3s, 3s, -1 2 damage. Having a profile that wounds on 2s, rend 2 and damage 3 is much better, even if it's 4 attacks. Because all you'd do is probably keep him close to the Reclusians with the mirrorshield and then when he's sent in there, you can double fight with both those units. Now about the Reclusians... I am slightly disappointed because I'd hope they would be the more elite troops who can take hits and really dish em back. But that said the 5+ ward ability from the battle formation is VERY nice, it's why my stormcast army in 3rd was a Gardus Steelsoul tanky army. Prosecutors getting the charge bonus is super nice and will be a good reason to have 1 or 2 units of them to really slam into enemy forces quickly. Starfall looks particularly brutal. if we have any cavalry wizards in 4th that would be perfect to use with. I also like thundershock as per usual AND bless weapons prayer. All in all, I can easily see myself doing a ruination army with some other help like whatever Ionus provides in 4th, basic troops like vindictors/liberators, wizards, etc.

Totally agree on this, 4 attacks is a bit low but that profile is insanely deadly and quite consistent compared to almost everything we’ve seen so far (especially compared against a literal greater demon clawlord with 2 more attacks but no mortal kicker) As for reclusians… they are a bit anemic but 3 wounds with a 3+ is still quite tanky, and mortal kicker on a 2 dmg weapon is still very potent You can even get them to 2s 2s with a 2+ save with all out and finest hour which is quite potent And best for last prosecutors are absolutely insane… being able to deep strike threaten anything consistently with that 3d6 is crazy good I honestly think a 6 strong unit will be an auto include in pretty much any SEC force moving forward

In the demo game I played (demo game, pinch of salt etc. but still using the full stats etc) with a good spend of a command point the Lord Terminos killed all three Rat Ogors on his own in one attack. I wonder if it might be rather swingy, but he managed to hit properly hard when he needed to.

@@philsho36 I think maybe a little swingy only cause of hits on 3s, but I'm glad to see that my guess on Terminos can hit hard is on the money. It's easy to forget that usually heroes (especially on foot) do not hit too hard.

Definitely agree with your take on the tokens. Thematically super cool, but what a way to add bad on bad when rolling a 1. Remove cool model from board (sad), lose unique unit ability (sad), and take all of that damage (sad). I think having it so that the token effectively stops one attack and then is removed like you said really plays into that narrative that they sacrificed themselves for these characters. That's cool as hell and makes the Stormcast units with tokens just a bit more tanky. It removes one of those 3 sads and turns it into two sads and 1 fuck yeah, that in the right situation (or against the right attack) can make the sacrifice feel worth it. Otherwise, everything else looked pretty good for Stormcast. SCE not having great heroes isn't super surprising. As orhers mentioned the Gryph Stalker not having any unique ability is a real disappointment, and i feel they could have pushed reclusians a bit more to have some extra flavor. Terminos would have been great to see an execution mechanic. End of Turn, pick a Reclusian model, and kill it. Roll a die or each Health characteristic on a 5+ deal a mortal damage to a unit within combat range. Or something of that nature. The fight with me mechanic is a great leader ability, but doesnt feel tied to his narrative.

Only a little disappointed the Gryph-Stalker doesn’t give you something like D3+1 heal every time it slays a model to go with it’s life drain lore(though I guess that would’ve been broken against the squishy Skaven). A quick support hero that can dart in for a kill works for the “stalker” part tho. Otherwise really looks good and thematic as celestial tanks taking the field by storm and a quick reforge to keep the best units coming back. Hope the Knight-Arcanum is released separately soon or the only wizard is gonna be Krondys. xD (which don’t get me wrong. I absolutely adore our dragon-heart Spyro wizard, but that’s a lotta money for just access to spells)

Lord Terminos would be interesting with the Reclusians imho. Countercharge with him, and your reclusians become very difficult to charge. Sit on center of the board and just pew pew from over the heads

I was initially a SCE bro but now that I 've seem your coverage on what has been leaked so far, I'am more excited about playing Skaven. SCE profiles are definitely more stable but I was expecting sth else from their special rules. It's annoying to have to track every save rolls you do for each units on the table with Memorians and they are going to die fast, losing the buff and flavour they bring to the ruination units, without much effort.

Brilliant video though, I really like insight into the new scroll, never seen your channel before, easy sub :) Also for a foot hero I'd say the Lord Terminos actually IS quite a fighty character. Normal foot -statline - 5/3/3/-1/2 - this guy is 4/3/2/-2/3 with crits doing mortals. I think that's better. Reclusians look like a poor man's Annihilators, but I don't like the models anyway (with only 2 poses out of the 3), i'll probably sell them. I agree about painting the memorians, seem gimmicky and a waste of time. Actually puts me off buying the box, I might jjust play without them with the same rule that they lose their ability on the first save of 1. Also, FYI I think the Lord-Veritant is actually a woman.

a note, Lord Terminos doesn't let you get around the strike last thing because he specifies that he can only activate a unit that hasn't fought yet, even though they have the chance to fight again

Never played aos only played 40k but the stormcast are beautiful! Gives me a cool dark souls vibe to them if the gryph stalkers get a cavalry unit I'm all in on stormcast! Will still be getting the launch box though

Thanks for the vid. I'm not a fan of the "Memorians" accompanying models... it's pretty silly to me, they have such "civilians" accompanying the fighters into the chaos of battle! (Case in point, you don't even see them in the videos ;p). To make matters worst, they don't even help soak up damage (e.g 1 health each). At least companions like Gryph-crow make sense. Lastly, like you mention, it's additional paint work ... haha

Can more than one Priest generate points for the same prayer if no one casts it? E.g.: could you sequence multiple priests praying to have turn 2 one casts it, turn 3 another casts the big 12+ version, turn 4 the one who was praying for the turn 2 cast gets it off again, turn 4 the one who cast the 12+ casts it again at 6+, etc.?

I feel they have really struggled with the same issue as space marines, try to be good at everything actually good at nothing. I hope they made them real solid tank primary objective holding boys and gave them more than 3 hammers

These box stormcast seem pretty generic. I guess I need to see annihilator and draconith scrolls before I decide if I will continue with them next edition or focus on one of my other armies.

I am really digging the new liberators. They have the thunderstrike vibe. The ruination dudes are kind of meh to me. Look good but I don't think they look better than annihilators. I hope that the tokens count for range when charging.

Do we know if different storm hosts are still a thing? I can see we have phased away from Hammers of Sigmar (think that’s wise btw) but wondering if we will see other storm hosts with the rules being made simpler.

FYI we've now seen that "Crit (Mortal)" means on a crit, (presumably a 6 to hit) the unit does mortal damage equal to the damage of the weapon. That makes Stormcast in particular SPICY AF. The Terminos has a potential for 12 wounds on a single foot hero. Its a bit subjective til we see points costs but lordy loo that is nice.

Sorry for a stupid noob question, but in the fight phase: Is there a charge advantage (like in 40k), or is it really just player 1 choses one unit, then player two and so on?

Some units and armies get bonuses when they charge, but natively no. AoS is much more combat focused than 40k, so if charging units natively had first strike on the charge you'd basically just be wiping the enemy army before they get to do anything.

Very underwhelmed so far, especially with the mounted Lord--his Skaven equivalent seems like the better fighter, especially if there's any chip damage on him! Meanwhile, chip damage on the new SC nullifies half of their abilities, without even tanking a point of damage. Then watch Prosecutors get nerfed, & only noobs play SC until their tome drops first, while Skaven dodge the initial release curse. You can really tell that GW underbalances SC in trying to set them down as a baseline.

Hey Robbo, great minds - read the warscrolls and immediately thought of how many reinforced units of prosecutors i can run. My thoughts on the terminus are a bit more positive - seems he hits pretty hard compared to most warscrolls weve seen so far, and his ability to make the unit who fights first immediately after him get a +1 to hit means youre saving a CP each turn and can use all out attack elsewhere. With CP being more of a precious resource for 4th, thats pretty good no? Thinking 2 of these guys in different areas giving out a few chain activations, more control and free all out attacks for the prosecutors and reclusians could be pretty good! Everyone hitting on 2s

Terminos has the sickest axe Stormcast has ever seen and the meh-est warscroll. What a huge letdown. Dude should be able to 1-shot enemy infantry models and infantry heroes on a crit or something. Heads will roll.

I honestly don't like Keyword bingo that they are doing with these new warscrolls, the abilities and stat blocks also feel watered down to what they were previously with most of the units either having deal mortals on 6s get a bonus if you charged and get a buff against a certain unit type. Like it will make the games go faster but, if units have similar stat blocks except for the one weapon special rule then people will just find the unit with the best special rule and use that over other types. The prayer system also feels super high roll with did my priests roll a certain number to get the religious currency to get the buff I want or do I have to wait another turn. I want to like them but, its just hard to atm. To the people who love these models I hope you have fun.

@@reubenmccallum3350 because there is a higher number of ways to increase your chance to hit than there are ways to increase your chance to wound in the game, -1 to wound is usually preferred since its rarer that the effect is mitigated. Not so much an issue with the maths as it is an issue with how the game functions

@@reubenmccallum3350 you cant stack them in the sense that the roll will never be modified by more than +1 or -1, but each positive modifier cancels out a negative one. because there are WAY more ways to get a bonus to hit you can still end up improving your hit score by +1 even through a -1 to hit effect, but effects that give you +1 to wound are relatively more rare, and so debuffing wound roll is more likely to have the intended effect

Aside from the prosecutors, I'm not excited. Of course, we don't know points or what the backdrop to any of this is yet. If Blood Warriors of Khorne have a save of 2 and health of 3 and grant double blood tithe for kills, I will be very happy and Stormcast will not look very powerful.

Lord Vigilant looks pretty lame. Has a once per game ability so once that's used he has no utility and just does damage. And his damage output is...I guess functional? 3+, 3+ on 5 attacks means he'd expect 2/3 * 2/3 * 5/1 = 20/9 wounding hits so just over 2 wounds for 4 damage. Let's be generous and let his mount get in another 2 damage as well for 6 damage total assuming no one can pass an armour save. He's probably relying on getting buffs from Command Abilities or Finest Hour to push up that output...and are you spending opportunity cost on this attack profile rather than on a unit of Annihilators or something? And as he has otherwise only a one-use ability he has no other function except output. His main role in the army seems to be as a Golden Daemon single miniature category entry?

Prayer takes too long to go off because once your close, your opponent can play around it. Don't like this change

Thankfully it targets your own units so you can spend the first turn charging up And you can magical intervention as well to build even more charge, or use it in your opponents turn even with an accompanying countercharge And Ionus will more than likely be able to get it out in one turn as well Overall it’s a solid prayer but you’ll want to use it on a reinforced unit preferably with mortal crits to get max value

these rules are just bad and a straight up nerf to our already pretty bad rules. things like reclusians who should be straight up murdering demigods who most likely cant even defeat a unit of 20 clan rats is just awfull. and these spells are semi decent, but with the recent squad we only got what? 2 casters in the whole damm line? and one of them is the rly expansive krondys. prayers also seem straight up nerft as they are now harder to get off. its just such a shame that sce play nothing like the fluff describes them to, they move at same speed of humans while they are supposed to be twice as fast, they got same amount of wounds as most mortals in the game, there slightly better save is often negated by the amount of mortal damage n the game and no way to negate that. they are far to elite in model numbers while not having actual elite profiles. gw rly needs to start deciding on what they wish to do with sce. either make them a rly hard hitting elite force like custodes in 40k, or make them more of a regular army numbers wise and than basicly shit on there lore where they are stil supposed to be vastly superior to most mortal troops.
