StormDry field test for damp proofing using StormDry Gauge (karsten tube)

This semi-detached house was suffering penetrating damp problems cause by its exposed position (westerley facing gable in North Yorkshire), and the porosity of the stones and bed-joints. After a damp survey Brick-Tie recommended a clean of the stones followed by a single application of StormDry water repellent cream. A couple of weeks later we attended back on site and with the owners permission, set up parallel porosity tests to both houses (Safeguards StormDry test unit).
The video shows how the stones on the StormDry treated house resisted water penetration and the stones and bed-joints (mortar beds), on the untreated house soaked up water with ease. This test shows how the StormDry treatment applied by Brick-Tie Preservation improved the rainwaterresistance of our customers house. The penetrating damp problem was stopped and over 5 years later the house is still dry. Stormdry has an agrement board certificate for good performance over 25 years.
