Lovely work. I use Foamex for my bases, you can often get free offcuts from photography/exhibition/display companies or signwriters. It comes in 2-10mm thicknesses. I have a huge supply that was all free, the waste from displays can be A3 or even A2 in size - no use for them but really great for model makers like us!
