@@TheVoodooMakerwell in the first world war Canada wasn't really a thing nor was our military the Brits used our people who lived in rough poor cold conditions at home as their stormtroopers. Until the battle of Vimy ridge when the allies couldn't take it and gave command of the next operation to sir Author Currie who secured it with his fellow Canadians. He was well liked for keeping his men both alive and informed, he was the first of the allies forces to employ the tactic of all troops knowing their orders not just the commanding officer. Which allowed the Canadians to keep moving regardless which men fall.

it is mostly symbolism to show that artillery was used first. then the stormtroopers attacked, to be more precise, the stormtrooper started going out of the trench and advanced toward the enemy trench while the bombardment was still ongoing. it was meant to reduce the time delay between the bombardment and the attack to leave the least amount of time to their enemy to regroup and reform a defensive line as unit usually retreated to some shelter during bombardment and rushed back to their position when the bombardment ended. due to that preparatory bombardment were less effective than expected as enough defender survived to fend off any subsequent attack, but the defender were still desorganized by the bombardment and had to recover each time. The stormtrooper's aim was to hit the trench before the defender could reorganize themselves and laid some suppressive fire to prevent them from getting too close.

@@PrvnCoke You take a lot for granted with that statement, no one was really "good" at clearing and taking trenches, otherwise ww1 wouldn't have lasted as long as it did. The german stormtroopers were better at taking trenches than normal units because of their equipment and training i.e submachine guns, pistols, armor etc. The italian arditi are notable because they did the same thing with just knives and grenades, attacking while their own artillery shelled them showing great fighting spirit.

@MajinOthinus
@MajinOthinus 7 ай бұрын
All the mentioned examples are completely different from each other. Austrian Jagdkommandos predate WW1 by 30 years and were employed as single companies, platoons or squads behind enemy lines, not on the frontline. The Arditi meanwhile were classical shock troops that were specialized in assault operations, but were employed just like regular infantry. German and later Austrian Sturmtruppen were employed for infiltration assaults, which the video fails to show. Essentially they were employed completely opposite to the Arditi by specifically *bypassing* enemy resistance and *not* trying to break the enemy lines.

The first storm troops were Canadians. The Germans called them that. The Canadians were also very ruthless. They took fewer prisoners and when the Germans attempted a Christmas truce the Canadians launched trench raids making it clear that there would be no truce. The Germans considered them savages.
@prussianboi6381
@prussianboi6381 2 ай бұрын
They were not, the Germans did not call them that and the Germans did not consider them savages. The name comes from a literal translation of Sturmtruppen which as german is, is a very literal word. It just means assault unit and the tactic itself was pioneered by the Germans, not by the canadians. And no, nobody called them Sturmtruppen and while i believe you that they were probably ruthless and all that, they were not known for it.

I have heard a few reasons as to why Stormtroopers have bad aim in Star Wars On some missions orders are to let the enemy flee so you can track them to their headquarters! Alot easier to do if you dont kill them! Hence you wanna make it seem as if you are trying to kill them but purposefully miss your shots! Thats a scheme worthy of someone running an Empire! We gotta remember that the Empire was waging war against a guerilla army so the mission is not to just shred the forces sent to strike you but to uproot the whole resistance! Second reason is Jedi mind tricks messing with the troopers aim or perhaps pushing their guns slightly so they miss their shots and what shots are not directed elsewhere are blocked by lightsabers
@Azorees-oj5zr
@Azorees-oj5zr 7 ай бұрын
Honestly the fact that they’ve successfully tricked people into believing that they were really trying during the Death Star escape should be taken as proof of just how good they were. Such a feat is no easy task. And the fact that throughout the original trilogy, nearly every time that they were sent to wipe out the rebels, they completely steamrolled them.

If I am not mistaken the Russian also had shock troopers during ww1 though they use rarely.

They didn't use rarely. They used shock troop en mass in the Brusilov offensive. And Soviet Union continued the tradition of using shock troop (with mechanized element) in offensive operation .
