Those are pontoons. Seaplanes sit directly on the water with a boat like hull with pontoons to stabilize the wings. 'Float'planes are land based planes adapted for water by adding floats where landing gear would go. You have built a seaplane, my friend.

I hopped from 2500 hours in ftd to this and ended up tallying up 400 hours in 3 months. This game is mechanically more complex and more rewarding in terms of the craft you build.

A bit weaker in endgame, but you can likely make up for that in Stormworks by the insane complextion.

I think the endgame in stormworks is basically just ultimate technical sophistication and building really challenging and complex things. Where ftd is a rts campaign to beat, this game is basically just a immersive sandbox for doing search and rescue. I have one vtol that does most everything you need to do in the campaign yet i am currently building a fuel inefficient giant boat that will act as my mobile base of operations and a floating fuel tank. Dont really need it but it will be fun to use.
