Nothing wrong with that audio quality mate. Along with the magazine and rain it's rustic at its best, how it should be. Don't fix what's not broken 👍✌

It's always funny when the video content is too interesting for me to truly relax - but that's why I like your channel so much! I found myself distracted by the motorbikes. My friends and I ride, and maintain, 1970s 2-stroke mopeds, pedals and all. Of course we kit them out to be faster than the stock bikes originally were. I have a Puch Maxi and a Motobecane. I also have a Honda C70 Passport, though that one isn't a moped and I don't work on it myself like the other two. All very fun to ride.

Be careful on those things! I've always wondered how fast some of those mopeds go.

Ah insomnia my old friend.. Saw your new video and thought, aaaand, relax! This video was too bloody interesting to sleep! I am fascinated following this magazine as you turn the pages. A couple of things struck me. That is a LOT of text to read for kids compared to the fodder nowadays! It seems to have been ahead of its time certainly around environmental issues. Some of thise articles look really interesting now! Some of those products in the ads I would recognise from my younger days growing up in Ireland, but what is that, a remote controlled car powered by gas? Bloody hell, health & safety certainly wouldn’t allow that nowadays! It does take me back though to some encyclopedias we had as kids. Those ones tour parents subscribed to over a long period of time. It was either Britannica or Caxton, we had both, but I was always fascinated in articles they published on chemistry (except when I had to study it) and how to make bombs. Yes. Kids. Bombs!! Now you’d probably be locked up and the key yhrown away for having such materials. Oh how times have changed eh? Given how I loved to experiment with things, I’m glad we didn’t have the internet back then otherwise I’d certainly have been experimenting on those recipes !! Anyway, still no sleep for me tonight, but your videos are definitely the most interesting I’ve come across and I enjoy them immensely. Like West Side Story, I have yet to get to the end of some of them, but thank you so much for the content you generate!.

I used to read my brothers Boys' Life magazines in the 90s they were great. Girls' Life was litterally a preteen version of cosmo crap, not as good. Girl scouts was also crap. Never got to go camping, learn archery or whittling or any of the stuff my brother got to do in boy scouts I was so jealous.
@psychedianic6 жыл бұрын
Now there's talk about letting girls into boy scout troops so they can do the outdoors activities but it would be simpler for girl scout leadership to teach outdoor/survival skills to the girls without requiring them to go elsewhere to get those experiences.
@jocelyngrekrn42096 жыл бұрын
Psyche W I agree, girl scouts should just have similar curriculum to boy scouts when it comes to survival, and outdoor activities. I don't really agree with the girls being in Boy scouts, girl scouts should just focus on changing the focus of activities but the greed from cookie sales dominates things I think 🤔
@psychedianic6 жыл бұрын
If leadership can't find a way to promote cookie sales and still give the girls survival and outdoor skills, it needs to work on it's Balance badge. Just saying. ;-) lol

I guess all troops are different. The one I was in was great. We were able to go camping many times and do outdoor activities and that was in the 70’s. My daughters were also in similar troops.

RelaxingASMR it’s absolutely my pleasure. I’m a longtime viewer. My 20 year old son has been watching with me since he was maybe 15, and he’s in college at Texas A&M now! Your videos often helped him sleep when his college roommates would be rowdy until the wee hours. He’s going to be a Naval Officer, and really likes your ship vids. Your videos have calmed me through some really rough times. As far as Jean goes, I love the movie, of course. I even have my leg lamp on right now - dead serious, ha. I gave my son the fluffy pink bunny suit last year. He was thrilled, lol. He had a radio show for years, and told all kinds of stories, and a lot of them are on KZbin, audible and iTunes. Sounds like I’m an agent, but I thought you might not know how much he did. His stories about the good ol’ days are so funny. Makes me nostalgic for the 30’s and 40’s! If you’re ever interested in the listening to audible version of A Christmas Story, that goes waaaay more into detail about Ralphie’s life... and of course the Bumpass hounds, I’d be happy to gift it to you. Either way, I’m about to sign up as a patron, finally. Have a great weekend, my friend!

It's nice to know my videos can span generations within the same family. That's neat. Sounds like you have a fine son there. As for Jean Shepherd's "A Christmas Story", did you know that the house used in the movie is in Cleveland Ohio and you can tour the home and even rent it out for the night? A fellow who's YT channel I subscribe to made a nice video tour of the grounds and house and even stayed in the house that night by himself and filmed himself reacting some of the movie scenes. Here is a link to his video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYaciaGejKx0qLM

RelaxingASMR Thank you. I’m really proud of him : ) It is really special to share things like that with him, especially as he gets older. I knew about the house! From the moment I saw a listing on eBay for a Christmas Eve night spent in that house, probably 12 years ago, it’s been my dream to one day do it! We went to Cleveland when my son was about 5. I was there to sing in a Beatles tribute at the Rock Hall. Darn it to heck, I didn’t know it had been filmed there at that time. Then my sharp little 5 year old was watching the movie afterward, and said “mommy! That’s Cleveland!” He was right, and I was pretty awed that we’d been in the shopping center that “played” Higbee’s department store with the carbine action Red Ryder BB Gun! My son eventually got one from his dad. You can guess what I said about that, lol. I mean, I was worried, but of COURSE it was an exciting moment, ha. Sweet memories.

RelaxingASMR I have one more question, then I’ll let you get about enjoying your Saturday! Did you ever have an opportunity to eat at an Automat? I know they were mostly concentrated in the northeast, so you may not have, but I was curious. I’d never heard of it until the audiobook. An older Ralphie describes it, and it sounded to cool, I started looking it up. There’s supposed to be a documentary about Horn & Hardart’s Automat coming out soon. Wish they hadn’t been run out of business by McDonald’s. I’m closing here, I’ll say thank you again, and tell you what an amazing legacy you’re leaving here :)
