Always awesome to see people smiling despite bad weather. I think the 6.5 is a capable caliber. It's not a magic bullet. As you said Jason, deer can run when hit by just about any caliber. It's about shot placement, knowing your limits, your equipment's limit, and your quarry. A little luck on occasion never hurts. Of course luck is defined by most as opportunity meeting preparation. Great meeting you all at the BSS2020. Keep the great content coming.

Nice one Jason, great vid, gives folks the reality of the soft Irish weather. I've been out for our last three weekend storms and each time took animals off the hill, great times to test your gear. Great to see you using unmoderated rifles, its nice to carry a light mountain rifle.

Yes it is so nice to have a light rig. I usually have a much heavier setup but this little Savage is a peach for the mountain.

Great videography Jason,..and the shooting was spot on as well. I, just last week, bought a Mossberg Patriot Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor, and it's good to see this video now,..timely indeed. You guys have the rain,..here where I am in Eastern Canada, this is going to turn to a snow storm tonight into tomorrow. Ah well, this is winter,..so might as well be used to by now. Thanks for this good bit of video.

Very enjoyable video. Shot a 140lb white tail here in the US with a 6.5 CREEDMOOR hand loaded with a 140 gr LAPUA NATURALIS solid copper bullet. Shot was about 200 yards. She ran maybe 25 yards. What I like is the lack of recoil and of course the excellent ballistics. Would love to return home one day and do a bit of stalking in that lovely Irish weather!

Great show. I think 6.5 Creedmoor is good enough for hunting out to 400-ish meters. It isn't a super heavy hitting, drop them on the spot caliber but it's more than adequate. Being right in between .308 and .243 but with better ballistics than both of them its ideal if you want one rifle for PRS and stalking. If you are buying a rifle "purely for hunting" and you maybe want to shoot bigger game like red deer and sambar deer from time to time you are probably better off with 7mm rem mag, 308 or 30 06.
@jamiemarquiss60654 жыл бұрын
Great show lads, good old Irish weather what's not to like. Very informative, I'm not a fan of the 6.5 x55 and have seen many fallow cover ground after being perfectly shot broadside, hitting vitals. 7mm08 for me, thou this has shown a much better side to the 6.5. Thanks for all your efforts.

Guys well done. That much gear for a sell filmed hunt in atrocious conditions is really an outstanding effort. Kudos for how many times you would have had to wipe the camera lens. I"m not sure 6.5 creedmoor is any better than a 308Win though but hey you can only find out by trying.
@jasondoyle60614 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's funny, I've never been a fan of the .308, I feel there's too much jumpy recoil for what you get. The CM is so nice to shoot that you forgive some of its shortcomings.

I dont really understand the fuss about the 6.5 cree, since it does nothing performance wise different than 6.5x55 or 260 rem. In actuality you can get more max velocity out of a 260 than a cree.
@jasondoyle60614 жыл бұрын
It's nicer to shoot than the Swede, shorter action and same velocity for less powder. I think the biggest issue with the 260 was when it was released it was nearly identical to the 7mm08 there wasn't the 6.5 long range craze like was when the CM came on the scene.
@dinsixiengmay97814 жыл бұрын
6.5 cree can accommodate longer bullet better cause of the longer neck in a short action that's it.
@glennmcloughlin12334 жыл бұрын
Great to see a real world test of the creedmor. Sika are physically the toughest animal to knockdown in ireland (with exception to the feral goat maybe). Personally im turned against using the 6.5 for hunting after seeing both animals run with good shot placement. Reminds me to much of my old 6.5 swede. If you want to try it on some big feral goats give me a shout jayson 🖒
@jasondoyle60614 жыл бұрын

Yes mate, the packing grease was still on the rifle and that may have been the cause of it. After that wet day I cleaned it and there was a serious amount of crap came out of everywhere. It just kills me to see you using suppressors as a matter of course when they are being attacked by the anti's here and the hoops we have to jump through just to get one in the States! Killed 4 whitetail this past fall with the 6.5 Creedmoor up to 345 meters and none moved from where they were standing using 140 grain ELDM handloads.
