I am impressed with the solar panels and the framework - did you have to install power outlets round the boat or were they there already ? Gibraltar is a good place to visit.

Hi Nohma! First of all, very cool that 46 of yours! My girlfriend and I have been visiting multiple boatshows and we want to buy the 46 as well. You made me realize that we need a hardtop on the flybridge aswell, looks very cozy! What I am curious about, could you please tell me your thinking process deciding this solarsetup? It looks really sturdy and powerful :)! Groetjes, Jeroen
@SailingNohma3 жыл бұрын

We were very happy when it was over. Hope we never get struck by lightning, sounds very scary.
@brettharrison22373 жыл бұрын
If you find yourself in an area of heavy lightning, put your phones, iPads etc in your oven (cold, obviously). It will act as a Faraday Cage. Turn as many, if not all of your boat electrics off and hope you don’t get struck.

Mons Calpe? I did not know that one. I am curious to know whether he also explained the origin of the name Gibraltar?
@SailingNohma3 жыл бұрын
Neither did I, the tour with Michael was very educational. About the name he told us that it started with 2 muslim brothers Tarik and Tarif. Gibraltar is the Spanish derivation of ‘mountain of Tarik’ in Arabic and the Spanish city Tarifa, further down the coast, was named after his brother Tarif. Thanks for watching!!
@feshfeshsailing3 жыл бұрын

YOu must have spent thousands on that solar setup. All you needed was an Efoy fuel cell for under $2k and saved you thousands and had power 100% of the time.
@SailingNohma3 жыл бұрын
Never heard of Efoy fuel cells before. I have no idea if they could provide us with enough power and we should have to fill them up with methanol, which is highly flammable. We’re very happy with our solar panels, they’re worth the money. Thanks for watching!!
@michaelsteel6883 жыл бұрын
@@SailingNohma They have various sizes that can manage any boat size, it's not flammable Look at their website. it's just regular alcohol you can get just about anywhere. I use this on my 36ft boat and works perfectly with no need for solar cluttering up my boat. www.my-efoy.com/efoy-brennstoffzellen/

Is there a good reason you don't use a perfectly good cabin to sleep and live in. Seems like a waste of of very nice boat. Especially in bad weather.
@SailingNohma3 жыл бұрын
Our boat has so many great spots that we can choose to sleep wherever we feel like. So that’s like the opposite of a waste 😃 When we just started sailing our kids liked us to all be close together while underway, especially in bad weather. Are those good enough reasons?
