We have looked at how to attract particles to the surface of an object but you may not know that it can be done with rigid bodies as well. This video takes a look at how to attract rigid bodies to the surface of an object in Houdini 19.5.

thanks for teaching how to make collision easily.

NICE. Thanks for giving an introduction to POP Groups. So much potential in that. Thank you!

I appreciate your tutorials. Very educative. If I may suggest a topis for a tutorial, I would like to see one explaining what the "Blend Simulated Values" parameter of the RBD Keyframe Active node does, and explain some steps with an example?

I'm trying to create a tornado simulation with debris and I was wondering how I might make the fractured material from the rbd bullet solver interact with the pop solver vortex simulation? Would I use one of the methods in this playlist?

Typically different solvers don't play well together and you need to find ways to fake things. I'm not sure what exactly you are needing to interact but the pop nodes also work inside the bullet solver so you might play with that and see where it gets you

@@InsideTheMindSpace okay thank you! I will try that! I'm trying to make the tornado sweep up debris but it's been really difficult trying to find tutorials that explain how to do that.

Thank you for this tutorial. It was very informative. Is there a way for these rigid bodies to self-detect using pop-collision detection?

Yes you should be able to use collision detection

This is great, how can I use vellum grain to be attracted to the object? I would think they would be much lighter and more efficient to use than RDBs.

They might not get you the results you are looking for because the two don't work quite the same but you can certainly try. I believe the pop attract node works with these as well so you can follow my other tutorials about attracting to surface if you need

@@InsideTheMindSpaceI tried with vellum grains. It doesn’t get me the same results. Also, your other tutorial on closest point on mesh works better than this one. On this one I can’t get the RBDs to cover the mesh. They don’t get attracted to all the points.

What key switches are you using, they sound like tactiles / blues ?

I have a razer blackwidow chroma so whatever they are. I dont really care too much about the switches on a keyboard lol

@@InsideTheMindSpace Alright thank you, yea they are probably the Tactile Razer Green (which are similar to Cherry MX Blues but with slight changes to actuation force and travel distance). Thank you for the Houdini videos, very informative !
