It's Kinda confusing because the MC of PLA isn't actually Rei and Akari, and actually theorized they are Dawn or Lucas...a way to make sense of the scenario in this story, is this is when Dawn or Lucas haven't been summoned by Arceus yet, while Adaman and Irida already met the 2 but the confusion makes it look they just look alike.

Well Cyrus did make somewhat of a truce after his villain arc thankfully. So far him, Maxie, Archie, Lusamine and Lysandre are on good terms with the heroes, not sure yet of Rose, while Ghetsis and Giovanni are the main evils.

So Adaman and Irida doesn't know that it was actually Volo and Giratina causes the rift in Hisui back then. In the end, Looks like rifts are still happening, so Volo might be in Pasio but probably just hiding or something. I actually glad to see Cyrus helping the gang, I hope in the future, he is still on protagonists side to stop Volo despite of both of them having similar goals of recreating the world.

Cynthia present was a welcome surprise. Glad Cyrus is on a truce for now since Team Galactic has no hostility for the moment. (Kinda hope for Dialga and Palkia and Giratina to get origin forms in the future) Now though with their leaders gone the Diamond and Pearl clans hope they cope, Ingo gone was bad but Irida and Adaman came from the past so who knows how the future would be imapcted. (At least they didn't lose their memories.)

So in this continuity, Akari and Rei are definitely separate from Dawn and Lucas. I guess that makes sense (especially since it opens the door for Akari and Rei to show up later -- man, imagine how Dawn and Lucas will react to that lol). I still personally like to imagine Lucas (as the Professor's assistant) as the PLA protagonist though. I'm kinda sad the Let's Go protagonists and Trace don't seem to be showing up in Masters anytime soon.

I would love Lucas (the assistant) to be the protagonist of PLA, considering he is the one who knows a lot about Hisui and the one who has Dialga. Tho it won't surprise me if the protagonist of PLA actually hid their real mannerism in the past to not affect the future too much. The fact that it is still somewhat hard to tell who is the PLA protagonist and their backstory makes me hopeful that one of them is either Dawn or Lucas.

I pretty sure it's Arceus who sent them to Pasio, as it know what or who will be causing these chaos, thus bringing capable Hisuian people there to help fixing the problem in its place. Yeah, but also in that movie, Dialga needed focus to essentially hold them in that point in time. It couldn't even fight Arceus along with Palkia and Giratina, and had to dedicate all of its energy to keeping them there. The moment it stops, they get sent right back when they started.

The only thing that kind of gets lost in translation here is Adaman and Irida mistaking Team Galactic for the Galaxy Team, which doesn't make that much sense given that the names are different. This isn't a factor in Japanese, as both Team Galactic and Galaxy Team have the same name: ギンガ団 ("Ginga-dan").

The universe is incomplete without the flow of time and the expanse of space. Basically, Cyrus needs both Dialga and Palkia in order to create a perfect new world, while destroying the current one in the process. Plus, Cyrus got talk-no jutsu'd by Cynthia in the Sinnoh Villain Arc, so he's now somewhat neutral and doesn't pose any threat, as you can see in this event.
