It has big entryway to catch on. There should be some windbreaker or door closing it off.

@@jacekgraf3620 Yes! Upon second look that doorway does look like it would catch and possibly (probably) funnel the wind. Maybe a round fence like wind break at entranceway?

Awesome design guys 👏..funny.. I had a weird dream last night and saw basically this exact pattern appear on "the sun" then today this video popped up, which I've never even seen the preview photo for! I mean, I've seen the bottles used, but it presented oddly similar to what you've done here... And I'm actually headed to your area tomorrow to check out properties for my own dome *finally*!! I've been researching and wanting to build a dome for about 15 years now... (ya, a little slow on actually getting it done, but I'm getting things aligned, slowly but surely!) I'm super stoked, Aircrete is definitely the best method for wetter areas. I've been living on Oahu past 3 years, but leave for my 3rd visit to BI tomorrow morning to finally get to check out some properties!!! Cheeeeee!! Probably a long-shot if you'd see this in time, but I'd love to come see it in person if you're available! I stay BI through Wednesday. Holla! 🤙💕🛸

Hi Selene, Yes it was their first build after going through a course in aircrete building. They have a composting toilet on the property for now.

It is unpermitted :) Not a huge issue in Hawaii unless you try to purchase (finance) land there with an unpermitted structure.

Were you able to get a building permit from Hawaii County for the structure using Aircrete? If yes, what did you need to provide for the building permit?

Definitely not. I live in Hawaii County and you need a structural engineer to sign off on your design. With just aircrete and no rebar or structural support, there is no way an engineer will stamp this.

@@shiggityx2 Since no structural engineer will sign off on this structure, are you incurring any fines from Hawaii County, because the structure is not up to code? On your Hawaii county real property assessment, are you being charged for this structure as far as having to pay property taxes on it, even though the structure is not up to code?

@@Dbanquil1 I do not have an unpermitted structure and am not sure how strictly the building code is enforced. Plenty of people live in unpermitted structures so I don't think they issue fines, but yes I believe they will try to assess your building for property tax even if it is not up to code. I'm not sure how they go about assessing if you never pull a permit.

I know he hooked up solar for electricity, water is through catchment (it's the second smaller dome next to the main one. It rains so much in this area that's more than you'll ever need :) No internet yet.

It's the area of Hawaii that is dangerous for volcano issues. The cheap land in Hawaii will be at risk from lava flows as well as sulphur smells.
