*story time* I almost drowned in quicksand 🙃

let me tell you a story about how Caitlyn missed her flight, I found a duck and I almost drowned, then join me at a cafe and fly back to Sydney with me!

That was an amazing story time with drama, ducks, assorted bio materials, police but "the duck lived" ❤ so a satisfactory conclusion. For that the creation of a book of Tasmanian bird images that Alex spoke about, it might be fun to include the "metadata". This would refer to the: who, what, where, why and how as in, "look at this image of Mallards this was where, like Indiana Jones, I was almost ended."

Oh man Alex... PLEASE be careful. I was just thinking watching one of your other videos where you were walking in mud by the water that it looked kinda dangerous... maybe I should have said something in your comments on that video but idk ... I guess i figure no one reads my comments. My friend back in HS died after sinking into mud when our lake was extremely low during a drought... it was so tragic. The kids were attracted to walking out there during the drought because suddenly it was like you could walk across the lake to the other side of town (normally have to drive all the way around ... its a big lake here). He was just 14 and had only just started HS. You need to be very careful when walking in muddy water like that.

the story time clips where you're just talking to friends are so cozy, I love hearing them laugh in the background. I feel my parasocial bond growing stronger /j also as an american it's wild hearing that being 2 hours early to a flight isn't normal. 2 hours is literally the bare minimum for us. it doesn't actually take 2 hours to go through security and stuff, usually like 30 minutes max, but it's actually recommended on the official flight websites and everything to arrive 2 hours early at least. on my first flight I arrived like 5 hours early to the airport because I lived a couple hours away and was scared of somehow missing my flight or getting lost in the airport bc it was my first ever time flying and I was doing it completely by myself lmfao. also I was just eager to get out of town bc of the situation I was in. I just chilled on my laptop in the airport for a few hours trying to not be incredibly stressed out but everything turned out fine!

I think the 2 hours early thing depends on person to person. I also live in Australia and whenever I or someone I know has to catch a plane it's normal for us to get there minimum 2 hours early. So I think it just depends on the person and how long they think they have.

So about flights and airplane things. I’ve always been so anxious about missing flights even as a kid so as an adult we are always like 2+ hours early because you never know how long TSA is going to take or if the flight is going to change. Your friends cackles are the highlight here. All glad you were safe but the timing of the duck pooping was just to much. 😅

Yes they are however, based on Alex's retelling, Caitlyn told her that she needed to get back and have access to her laptop and Alex continued to take photos. She could take photos anytime. It's a bit of a shitty thing to do.

I think only the US requires that long because of the crazy amount of security theatre. Of course it depends on how busy the airport is, but I've had no problems arriving 30 minutes before domestic flights in Australia and Japan.

@@MegaAgent99 NPC is the name the people on Alex's discord server, myself included, have given to ourselves. Many of the friends she has made in Tasmania she met through that very server and were a part of choosing that name. It's not mean; it's a title we're proud of and came up with on our own.

Had to pause in the middle of the video to tell my sister you were doing the same thing I do with mugs. I have a specific favourite shaped mug and I use it almost exclusively! Also so glad you are safe; that sounds genuinely terrifying. In terms of an inclusive greeting, I used to use "Guys, gals, and non-binary pals" but have started using "Hello dear friends!" with my students. Always makes me smile. :)

I keep seeing all these negative comments on this video, and I'm honestly so confused. 1. NPC is a nickname those of us on Alex's discord server have given to ourselves. Many of the friends she's made in Tasmania, she met through that server. It's not rude or an insult; it's a self-appointed title. 2. Everyone is blaming Alex for Caitlyn being late when Caitlyn took too long on her shower even though Alex told Caitlyn there wasn't enough time, forgot her glasses which meant they had to go back after they'd already left, and also didn't tell Alex she had an important interview that day until after the fact. 3. Caitlyn and I have pretty similar personalities, from what I've seen. I wouldn't want me crying on camera with my friend comforting me to be broadcast on the internet. I also wouldn't want anyone to awkwardly sit next to me while I was on the phone with my boss for over an hour. Alex went to take pictures because Caitlyn wanted privacy. Alex, if you're seeing this, I'm so sorry people are being so terrible. Parasocial relationships are so fucking bizarre, and they make some people feel like they know absolutely everything about you, when they're actually seeing less than a single hour of an entire 24 hour period.

Technically, NPC stands for “Non player character”, but she has a discord community and they wanted a name. Everyone settled on “Nerdy Pigeon Coup” aka NPC.
