Since the very first time we've seen Anna Shcherbakova in 2017, our eyes just couldn't take off from her. She's a charming young lady. For so many years, she's been under the shadow of her teammates. Even though after this Olympic win, we think she may still be under the shadow. But we just want to take a moment to celebrate her achievement, through her perseverance. Still you know she gonna get some breasts and some hip mass eventually anyway, also if her body mass index is below 18 they say that you dont get periods etc. I am quite sure that they would still go with the hormone therapy even if the effect is marginal.

I gotta admit, I never watched or followed figure skating before these Olympics. So I didn't even know who she was. But seeing her by herself like that after winning the gold was just heartbreaking. Then I went through KZbin and binged on her performances, and watched several interviews of hers. And she really is just the sweetest kid ever. I'm a fully fledged fan at this point. I will be watching and supporting her in a month at the worlds competition.

Same thing happened for me. Shame she didn't get to defend her world title as a result of the war... not her fault in any way. She should've gotten to compete. She currently nominated by the ISU for most valuable skater of the year. Hope she wins. Small consolation prize, but it's deserved.

Anna is one of the great skaters ever. Not only can she do quads, her skating is just beautiful. She looks very tall on the ice but she’s 5’3”. Her long lines, extension & ability to deliver under pressure is truly among the rarest of skaters. Her Bielman is the best ever. She is honest, humble,classy & a really nice person. my sweet sweet anya, she’s the sweetest and most kindest skater i’ve ever seen, she’s just so lovely on and off the ice. the video of her going out in heavy snow just to give her fans that waited to see her autographs that she prepared beforehand really made me fell for her. she’s always so mature in interviews too, never putting down her rivals or teammates even when the reporters basically taunt her. i hate how people easily throw hate on anya because of her not-the-best jumping techniques, but forget she’s just a kid trying to realize her dreams ?? like, i admit, she doesn’t have textbook jumping techniques like yuzu or yuna, and her lutzs and flips can be questionable at times, but she’s really trying her best. she always have. it pained me seeing her say that her ambition is to skate for a very long time, considering the track record of eteri and her skaters. congratulations on the win anya !! you’re always shining in our eyes and now it’s time for the world to see that too.

Exactly! Still in my cloud 9 that Anna is now officially Olympic Champion and the world will come to learn about this girl! Yes she doesn't have the best jumping techniques, but her skating always touch us and made us feel something. Still couldn't forget Christmas Eve 2020 when she delivered that free skate after such fierce competition and after she just recovered from COVID which made us all cry like crazy...

I don't usually follow figure skating, but because of so much drama during this olympics I thought to find out what all the fuss was about. After watching the competition and finding out little bit about the skaters, the real highlight for me was Anna's Journey to achieving the Olympic gold medal. There is such an incredible and inspiring story behind her, it's real shame that her story was never presented to those who don't usually follow the sport, and instead the focus was on all the wrong things. What strength of charcter she has, she fully deserves the gold medal (she absolutely won it, others didn't lose it) and, even though it would be a tall ask, how wonderful it'd be to see her skate again in next Olympics.

I wouldn't be surprised if she tried again at the next Olympics. Skaters from her camp usually seem to retire around 17 (her age when she won at the Olympics) but she's 18 now and still saying she has no plans to retire in interviews. She underwent knee surgery and is in recovery, but says she's training and getting her elements back (already back up to doing triples I've heard). She'd only be 21 at the next Olympics, which was how old Kaori Sakamoto (the Bronze Medalist at this last Olympics) was. Russia's Skating Federation may want to consider extending her career too, seeing as the ISU raised the age limit to qualify for the Olympics, meaning slightly older competitors are more useful/needed now. If anyone will defy the infamous Eteri expiration date, it'll probably be Shcherbakova and her notorious Iron Will.

I first saw Anna skate a few years ago. I was on a trip and was flipping through channels on the TV in the hotel room, and one of them was showing a skating competition (I forgot which one). Before that, I had never been interested in figure skating, but when Anna took to the ice I was stunned. What particularly impressed be about her was how well she skated with her music. From that moment, I was a fan! As a musician I was amazed, and no other athlete there seemed to be able to do anything like it. I was only a freshman in high school at the time, but I was at least keen enough to recognize a true champion when I saw her. And now, three years later, here she stands a with olympic gold! A lot of people unjustly criticize her for her jumps, but from what I know about the sport there's a lot more to it than that. Anna'a artistry is really unparalleled. I'm immensely saddened that I will probably never see her skate in international competition again to to geopolitics.I really wish she could know how much her grace, intelligence, excellence, and perservearence have inspired me over the past three years. Who knows, maybe I'll meet her one day and get to tell her in person. Anyways, I sincerely wish her the best in life. She's definitely impacted mine for the better :)

I am confused now because I watched a piece with Anna and Sasha 3 yrs ago talkjng about training and such. They talked about Sasha first woman to land a quad in competition. You probably seen it as well . They also brought up her being named the Russian rocket because of the quads . Sasha said yes she was the first, but many of them are doing quads now etc....

Anna is the person who deservedly should have become an Olympic champion. Everyone knows that Anna is a well-balanced figure skater: her programs combine difficult elements with artistry. But I also want to mention that Anna is a wonderful person. She works hard, she never complains. Tap on the knee for several months? "Nothing serious". Lost the competition? "Yes, there were mistakes, so I will work harder to show my best". Did skates break a few days before the Olympics and had to roll out new ones? "It doesn't bother me in any way". Got injured and couldn't train for 2 months during the Olympic season? "Everything is fine, we are working normally". She is grateful to the coaches, she respects the opponents, she never speaks ill of others. She is modest, well-mannered, she is very smart and mentally strong. Anna is a very clean and bright person. And she also has a wonderful intelligent family. Three-time national champion, reigning world champion and Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova. @@wuverrabbit, Yes, there are scam videos of haters. Screenshots are given later than the point of contact of the thrust leg, showing a flat edge. The same thing is done by prerotation. Anna has shallow ribs on jagged jumps, but they are correct. Skaters with irregular ribs are not disassembled, although there are many of them. Prerotation on quads is greater even for many men, but haters do not notice this. They cling to Anna.

Look at this lovely girl - still smiling and waving at the camera despite not making the podium at the Grand Prix 2018. Such maturity and graciousness! She has the heart of a champion and her mesmerizing Olympics performance deserved the gold medal. As an American, I fell in love with her during the Olympics. Despite the drama that engulfed the ROC skating team, Anna represented her country very well. I wish Russian coaches/officials had not left her sitting alone after winning the gold medal. She deserved much better than what happened.

I literally cried during this video. Despite her bad technique and over scoring my eyes are always caught by her passion and pure joy. I’ve been following her journey since her first JGP competition. Even when she lost she was always gracious, leading to her being over shadowed. Even now all the news about her is that “Kamila lost” or “Sasha cries”. Nothing about “Anna’s win”. This video is very appreciated.

If technique includes interpretation, complexity of the skate, entry into the jumps hitting the right notes, extensions , lightness and etc, no one can quite compare with her, though I don't like to compare because every skater has something to give us. She just has such a special presence on the ice.

This video is so important because so many people don’t see her journey and how she fought in silent! Sasha’s and kamila‘s drama and stories are really present in the media(as they should) but anya‘s doesn’t get any recognition again. If you look at the olymipcs how she sat in the waiting room after winning the olympics, not even smiling, completely emotionally empty(as she said in an interview), because of sasha‘s and kamila‘s breakdowns, is just crazy. And still, she stays calm and professional! I think it’s really important that we know how strong she is and how much she fought in silent and how she was in the shadow of other skaters. That’s why I think she deserved the olympic gold so much(the others would ofc too)!

So Anna, not Sasha was the first woman to successfully land that quad... I did not know that. Honestly, I am glad to learn that. Nothing against Sasha, she is obviously great athlete, but Anna always had something more. She is calm, mentally strong and good natured - and it is showing in her graceful performances. The fact she said she feels empty inside is just heartbreaking. She is the most elegant skater, she flows through the ice and captivates the viewer with artistry and flexibility. While her technique is questionable so is everyone else’s in the ROC team. She was fantastic and deserved that gold, living the same fate as Alina not being able to celebrate. I’m so happy for her-she absolutely redeemed herself and proved everyone’s doubts wrong. Be proud of yourself Anya, you deserve it. 💜

I saw her speak after her Olympic gold medal win. I got the feeling that she was (very understandably) struggling to express herself in a foreign language that she is only quite good--not excellent--at. So I don't think her words in English were possibly exactly what she meant to convey. I think she was trying to be her usual gracious self, but her English wording didn't go so well. That's how I see it. I wonder if she was trying to express that the realization of having won gold on the world's greatest stage just hadn't yet sunk in. Perhaps she meant that she had been focusing on just performing her very best. And winning first place just hadn't entered her mind as a significant likelihood--possibly clumsily mistranslated to feeling empty inside. I suspect if she had spoken in her native tongue through a talented interpreter her words would have been significantly different. I feel she is good at English though, just not yet proficient enough to have described adequately her feelings at such an emotional moment.

Also , I think just like with dancers , musicians and other artists , there are some who get so lost in the music or performance that it is difficult to come out of the performance when it ends. like coming down to Earth from heaven. We must thank these artists / skaters for giving us such joy.

В какой тени Анна? Среди действующих фигуристок Анечка самая титулованная: трёхкратная чемпионка России, чемпионка мира, олимпийская чемпионка. В прошлом сезоне не проиграла ни одного старта, выиграла всё золото. Это в её тени все остальные. Будьте, пожалуйста, объективны. Огромное спасибо за информацию о том, что Анна первая прыгнула четверной на тренировке, а потом сломала ногу, поэтому все считают первой Сашу. И у неё был не перелом стопы, а очень серьёзный перелом, даже в вашем ролике видно, что у неё вся ножка в гипсе. Мало кто верил, что после такой тяжелейшей травмы Анечка сможет вернуться на лёд. А она смогла! Невероятная девушка наша леди Анна.

История Анны Щербаковой не требует излишней театрализации и передёргивания. К чему этот Голливуд? Не была Аня в тени перед Олимпиадой. К этому моменту она уже была 3-кратной чемпионкой России, действующей чемпионкой мира, 2-кратной вице-чемпионкой Европы. За 3 сезона по взрослым Анна на каждом соревновании была на подиуме. В тени она была только по причине травмы во время предсезонного сбора, вследствие чего выход на пик формы был сдвинут по времени на 1,5-2 месяца. Ну, можно, конечно, вспомнить про экстренную замену коньков уже на Олимпиаде, что, видимо, привело к некоторому упрощению контента - отказу от лутц-ритта в короткой и сокращению количества квадов в произвольной с 3-х до 2-х. Но и так было понятно, что при чистом прокате Ани обеих программ обыграть её будет тяжело не только Саше, но и Камиле. А если и нагнетать трагизма в ситуации на Олимпиаде, то надо было бы упомянуть и про организованную после ЧР2022 травлю Ани российскими и иностранными СМИ, и про отказ ФФКР от участия Анны в команднике, и про положительную допинг-пробу Камилы, что довело ситуацию до крайнего накала. И Анна с блеском и достоинством со всем этим справилась.

​@@СадаКадиеваНаша федерация поставила ставку на Камилу! Аня и Саша были нестабильными, думали завалят квады, а им надо золото. После скандала с допингом, Саша и Аня вдвоём поняли, что это их шанс на золото и в ПП уже боролись между собой, обе откатали ПП максимум, но всё решала сумма баллов 2х программ, по итогу победила Аня. Саша и Аня обе честные и сильные спортсмены, каждая понимала, что федерация не доверяла им, это вдвойне обидно им, но они взяли и золото и серебро ОИ.

I think that the "real" skater, who respects and appreciates the figure skating with a real love, will eventually "gain people's trust, respect and real victory" of the sports. Anna wouldn't blame or criticize other winners when she lost. Anna has experienced injury before, so she knew the pain of "not being competing on the ice" as Yuzuru has had many times in the past. When your can't even step into the ice, the true love for the ice and skating is to be questioned and tested. Overcoming the injury and still wanting to skate have made Anna a stronger skater, who could skate and attract human hearts to her performance, like Yuzuru had been doing in the ice rink.
